Great find! The Mackenzie Motels was a wonderful find! Dont let the exterior fool you, each room was nicely decorated, warm and cozy. Nice small kitchenette area with coffeemaker, microwave and refrig. Our only watch out is there was no staffed office to check us in but we were given instructions for retrieving a key from a lockbox. Unfortunately we checked in after dark and there was no lighting over the lockbox. This made it feel a bit sketchy but it all worked out. Highly recommend this accommodation!

second time staying here and it's improved with the new ownership. Rooms are in great condition and pleasantly updated. You can tell they take pride in this motel. Great value and would absolutely stay here again.

This motel was amazing. It was spotless clean and had everything you needed. What was extra special was the little touches to make you feel at home, a warm blanket and little coffee pouches and treats on the bed. We would absolutely recommend this place to stay.

The room was very clean and presentable. The owner Erin was very friendly and accommodating. There was some miscommunication in the check-in process but Erin was able to correct it promptly. Convenience location to lake Tekapo. Good breaking the drive spot.

The room was very comfortable and cute but there was no plug outlet in the bathroom and no comfortable chairs inside. Otherwise, we were impressed with the owners’ pledge to being clean and comfortable and eco friendly.

Mackenzie Motel was lovely. You would not necessarily guess from the outside but once you enter, you can’t help but be made to feel at home. The design, amenities, private porch area and little courtyard are very cute. Nice to have the refrigerator and the little candy treats. Beds very comfortable and price just right. Also a quiet little town perfect as a stopover on our way to Christchurch,
