"We highly recommend this accommodation. The hotel is historic, charming, and in a quieter section within the palace walls. We stayed outside the walls the first couple of nights and then stayed within the walls. It's quite special to wander around in the evening, not worry about traffic, and return to this property. The best part of our stay is Edita and Ivan. They are welcoming, courteous, helpful and provide the small touches that make Split so wonderful."

"Wish we were staying longer! The space was surprisingly spacious for old town Split. The AC worked beautifully and the location can’t be beat. Everything you could need was in walking distance. Everything was clean and we enjoyed it. I will say that it’s above a louder bar, but they shut down at like 11 and we closed the windows, so it wasn’t too bad. We’re younger so that didn’t bother us, but could see an older couple being annoyed at it."

"It’s a big sprawling hotel that’s probably had various extensions built over the years. Having said that, the reception area is very spacious and the bars and restaurants all have good food and excellent helpful staff. The amenities are excellent. Great beach, with sun beds, and umbrellas. And clean sea water. Great outdoor and indoor swimming pools, lots of sun beds in the shade and in the sun. Drinks can be served at your sun chair. Some nice little seating area both outside and in side. Only grumble is that the first room they gave us had no view but a brick wall, I complained. So they gave me 2 more rooms to look at, both were unsuitable (having only a bath to step into for a shower). So I went back and told the receptionist that I wasn’t happy with any of them. After much deliberation, I was offered yet another room, which was perfect. View of the beach and pool, bright sunny room, stand up shower, plenty of wardrobe space. After that glitch we really enjoyed staying there."

"I 100% recommend staying here, especially if you are younger / don't mind street noise. The location is right in the center of Old Town. There is immediate access to all the restaurants, shops, clubs, and bars, with the riva being a 4 minute walk away. The room was very spacious, with an in-suite air conditioner, closet, and mini fridge. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was also very clean and spacious, with great water pressure. Ivana and her husband were so kind. They constantly asked us if we needed anything and gave us recommendations on the first day for things to do and places to eat. It is a small strip of rooms, so we weren't bothered by any other guests. There is no elevator and it is on the third floor, so keep that in mind with suitcases. Also, there is a club both across and down the street, so it will be noisy at night if that bothers you."

"My husband and I spent three nights at Tale of the Sea, which is literally part of the walls of Diocletian’s Palace. I loved the location; everything was in walking distance and easy to get to. Since the windows face the Riva, which is the esplanade separating the palace and Old Town from the harbor, it could be somewhat loud (there is a club across the street that had a thumping bass going on until 11 or 12 on one of the nights), but I will say that the stone walls are thick and if the windows are latched closed, the sounds of the main drag were barely discernible. The homes immediately adjacent to the building are not as well kept as the inn. There was unfortunately no communication about check-in procedures even though I had responded promptly to their request for our arrival time, When we arrived at the stated time, there was some confusion as there was no one to meet us and we didn’t have a way to get in, so had to call for the codes. The room is lovely albeit small, which wasn’t an issue, since we were always out exploring the town. A note about location- I personally loved being inside the palace walls but would caution anyone who isn’t great with stairs- and LOTS of them- that it might not be for you. You have to carry your luggage up and down many flights of ancient limestone steps to get in and out and also use them to get anywhere and everywhere within the walls, so you might be more comfortable outside if mobility is a concern."
