"We stayed at both the Tanjung Rhu resort in the north and the Riyaz Lavanya. We are a family of 3. This hotel had a very spacious 2 bedroom unit with washer. It was located near restaurants and the beach. Only downside was the lack of a view from our room and this is a busier side of town. The hotel staff were wonderful and the rooms were newer and very clean. The only reason we wouldn’t stay here again is because we enjoyed the north side of Langkawi more than the south side. The hotel itself was wonderful."
"We came here in a family trip. We chose the 2 bedroom apartment facing the beach. The view was amazing. The furniture in the rooms were ok. They could use updating. The room itself was spacious and nice.
They have a crew that cleans up the beach regularly, but a lot of bottles, wood and other trash gets washed up on the beach daily.
The family pool was wonderful and the staff was also very helpful.
The location was nice. Close to the mangrove tours and there are a decent selection of local restaurants. Some of the best food we had was in a hole in the wall restaurant a short drive away and it cost 40 RM for 3 meals and 2 drinks.
Make sure to venture outside the hotel if you stay here and explore the town."
"The resort was beautiful, beach and pools were good and plenty of comfortable sun-loungers and fresh towels. Breakfast was good with a vast array of cuisines to please the many cultures staying at the hotel. Location was perfect for a beach still into town. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. We had a sea view room with balcony. However, the downside was that you could hear what was going on in the rooms above and to the sides of ours. General noise (children crying, prayer time, moving around) we could cope with but we had two nights of being kept awake by inconsiderate neighbours above us who were banging doors and cupboards and arguing, so much so we rang reception at midnight to complain. Nothing was done unfortunately until we raised it with the duty manager again the following day and we moved rooms. It did taint our experience as we were hoping for a relaxing stay and it was the most expensive hotel of our trip. The staff were helpful however and as the buildings are wooden, you are going to get some noise but this was beyond acceptable. So I would say you are at the mercy of your neighbours to a certain extent."
"Overall, the stay was pleasant, but there are a few areas that could be improved.
Firstly, housekeeping could be more consistent and timely. We left the room at around 10:00 AM and returned between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, but the room had still not been cleaned. As a result, we only received housekeeping service once during our 5-night stay.
Secondly, noise insulation could be improved. Almost every night between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM, I could hear doors being slammed as guests returned to their rooms, which was quite disruptive.
Other than these issues, the overall stay was enjoyable."
"Room was clean and in good condition. Good room design, such as the night light in the toilet. Nice water features, pool beds, and infinity pool. Pools are open 8am till 8pm only. Breakfast had a decent spread: I liked that there was sourdough bread and yoghurt, as well as rotating local dishes such as kueh and beef tendon. There was a RM200/pax BBQ on the beach on Fri & Sat night. Approx 15 min walk to the middle of Cenang beach. Consider renting a car to enjoy Langkawi’s nice scenery and relaxed traffic (a Perodua Myvi worked well for this pair of Asian folks)."
"The hotel is decent overall. From our experience, cleanliness standards in some hotels and resort areas in Malaysia may differ from what we are used to in Canada. When we arrived, the toilet bowl was not properly cleaned, and there were hairs on the bathroom floor.
The beach, however, is excellent — white sand, shallow water, and very family-friendly, especially for kids. There are also plenty of activities available directly on the beach, such as jet skiing and paragliding. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful and one of the highlights of our stay.
I would not recommend purchasing the breakfast. We tried it once and paid directly at the counter, but the experience was disappointing. The staff were slow to clear tables after guests left, so many tables remained dirty for quite a while. The cleanliness of the glasses also left much to be desired, and it was difficult to find a reasonably clean glass for juice. In addition, the food selection was quite limited for the price.
The room does include a fridge, so instead we used Grab to visit a nearby fruit shop and bought fresh fruit and yogurt, which worked much better for us. I also highly recommend signing up for the Villa Gold Card during check-in. It’s free and gives access to the infinity pool as well as a 10% discount on food.
This was our third hotel in Malaysia during our two-week trip, and we noticed that the level of service is generally different from what we are accustomed to in Canada or Mexico."
