"The stay was relatively nice but for my two night stay, my bathtub was not cleaned after our first night. I let the front desk staff know at checkout and their response was just "Okay." no apology or request for how they could compensate me for the inconvenience.
The pictures for the spa on the website showed people in robes, but no robes are provided, neither were towels. I think the expectation was that we use the towels from our room.
The staff were quite friendly at check-in."
"I booked this hotel as it was 4 star and expected a nice experience while in Amsterdam for a conference.
Entry is confusing as its the top floors of a residents building, but made it to reception on the 8th floor.
Although the single room was ok, I had a shock when trying to use the shower the first morning. It was stone cold, so I went to complain. There was a print out attached to the lift and after speaking to the reception it was clear there was zero hot water in the building. After a cold shower, I went back to hear when it was coming back. But there was none! No plan no guarantees at all.
Then they had the cheek to charge me for the breakfast.
On the final day, I also noticed the carpet inside my room next to the door was damp, which I reported. No idea if they did anything about it.
Repeat this every morning, except they removed the sign after day one. You can imagine how much it affected my conference experience. Each morning I was told to email the management, which I did.
Finally I got a reply for 20% refund, which I said was insulting for a 4 star hotel with almost zero communication and a lack of a plan for the paying guests.
I won't be going back and can't recommend it because of the lack of action and communication."
"Staff at both the check-in desk and the onsite bar were great—friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The room was relatively clean, and housekeeping came in daily, which is fantastic. That said, I’d still recommend bringing slippers or slides, as that’s generally a good idea in shared spaces.
I stayed in a 4-bed dorm, which was fairly relaxed. The beds could be a bit creaky at times, so earplugs are definitely worth bringing. In terms of comfort, they’re basic foam mattresses with clean sheets and a decent blanket—nothing too fancy, but perfectly serviceable for a short stay.
There’s almost always something happening downstairs, which gives the place a lively atmosphere. It’s a great spot if you want to hang out in the lobby, get some work done, or meet new people!
I'd say it was certainly good value for me as a solo traveller, though YMMV of course."
"The staff was very helpful, and the room was very clean. Mostly the shower ! I’ve never had a shower where the hot water comes out so quickly. I love it!"
"Great location for walking distance to the ArenA or AFAS Live. Metro/train stations very close by. Only issues were noise, the doors being quite heavy caused a lot of slamming noises at night, including the doors to the stairwells which were often in use because the elevators were having issues. The staff member who greeted us was very friendly and nice. There isn’t much else around the area in terms of dining or otherwise because it’s outside the central area but it was worth it for us to avoid the busy crowds and trains after a concert."
