The Lincoln Hotel
6/10 Okay
"This hotel benefits from an excellent location in Lincoln, within easy walking distance of the cathedral, historic centre and local amenities, making it a very convenient base for visitors. However, the rooms themselves are a bit underwhelming for the price and setting. The furnishings feel dated, with decor lacking the polish expected given how desirable the area is, and the overall space could benefit from a refresh in soft furnishings and modern touches. The bathrooms appear in need of updating, with fixtures that are functional but starting to show their age. Given such a strong location, it is easy to imagine this property being just as impressive inside as it is outside—the only thing holding it back is a light refurbishment, especially in the bathrooms and guest rooms. As it stands, it remains a good, practical three‑star choice for a city break, even if not quite as memorable on the inside as its surroundings."
"Stayed for a two week work trip. My room was cleaned daily with fresh tea , coffee and buiscuits. Food in the restaurant was lovely and was well looked after by staff. Had a comfortable room overlooking the golf course and have booked again for my next work trip. "
"The Car Park was large and easy to access, with well marked bays. The Hotel room, beds and bed linen were very clean and comfortable... as were all of the corridors and areas leading to the accommodation.
The Breakfast Buffet had a comprehensive range of options BUT due to the Hotel being very busy on the Sunday, items either ran out or cold... however, on the Monday (when there were very few guests), my order was taken by the member of staff looking after the Breakfast service and soon presented freshly cooked and plated... which was excellent."
"Overall the hotel and staff were very nice and polite. The only problem we had was at the breakfast on the second morning
Soft poached eggs were ordered but after waiting for 15 minutes and reminding staff, they came out like bullets! The rest of the food was quite cold as well
"
"No parking . Their own parking across the road was £10 per night. The breakfast let our stay down. The staff repeatedly got the orders wrong and the cooked breakfast was very poor quality. I don’t recommend the vegetarian breakfast. The lamps on the tables need removing as they are at eye level and you can’t see each other! "
"The room was very small and dark. The bed was soft and the pillows rock hard.
The door wouldn’t lock which as a single woman was very worrying for me.
I called reception and was told I could move room but it was 11pm and I was very tired and was undressed. Consequently I had a poor nights sleep as I was worried someone could get in. There was no bedside light so I had to leave my phone on all night.
The EV chargers were extortionate. "
"There were some real pros & cons at this rather barebones hotel.
Pros: The location is great, right next to Paragon Hull Rail & Bus Station and very convenient to Old Hull, The Quay, Museum Quarter, Minster, etc. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. The shower is powerful and provides good hot water and pressure.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful/efficient.
Cons:
There is no power outlet near the bed or nightstands. For a CPAP user like me this is not good. Fortunately, I brought a surge protector with a 6’ cord but the cord ran across the carpet at the foot of the bed.
No room safe for valuables/passport, etc.
No closet or dresser which was actually helpful when checking that nothing was left behind.
The sofabed was dingy and worn like the carpet.
There was visible mildew in the shower.
The floor wasn’t vacuumed in the 3 days I stayed. There was a nylon tag cord that was there when I arrived and stiil there now.
The cooked breakfast was mediocre. The scrambled eggs were tasteless and watery like powdered eggs.
One of the 2 lifts was out of service which made for some long waits."
