"The ac was strong. But being next to a busy road with door and windows leaking light that at no point left the room what i would consider dark. The front desk was helpful for replacing the towels and such, however the apparent lack of and noise isoation is a negative. Every step or thought of out upstairs neighbors sounded like a horde of wild animals(assuming they weren't just rowdy) and the beds weird thin metal frame thing made my movements echo as the metal flexed."
"This hotel is in a great location in Lawrence - downtown and on the river. I had a riverside room and had a great view of the river and all the activity that takes place there. I'm a birder, and while I wasn't there for that purpose, I saw dozens of birds, including a few new ones during my stay. Eastern Phoebe's, Yellow-rumped warblers and a Kestral were all frequent visitors right outside my window, while the Canada Geese were vocal during most of the daylight hours that I was in my room.
The TV in my room had lousy reception - everything was pixelated. I wasn't there to watch TV, so it wasn't a big deal, but it would've been a bummer if there was something I'd wanted to watch. Also, the back deck could use some TLC - lamps are broken, lots of leaves and other evidence that it's not regularly swept or cleaned.
The staff were excellent and kind. They broke a role of quarters for me before I headed to the KU campus (the last time I'd been there the visitor parking required coins). I didn't need to use them and they readily took the quarters back. It was small, but kind. I plan to stay here again."
"Rating: 4/5 Stars (Recommended)
I recently stayed here and would definitely return. The hotel is in a fantastic area—there are a couple of ponds nearby with a great walking trail and benches that made for a perfect spot to enjoy a snack outdoors.
The Room & Amenities: The rooms appear to be in the process of being updated and were very clean.
Sleep & Comfort: The beds were good, and the temperature control in the room worked well.
Features: I appreciated the fridge, coffee maker, and the use of full-size shampoos and soaps. Note: There was no microwave in the room.
Shower: My only minor issue was the water temperature fluctuating between hot and cold, though it wasn't a major deal-breaker.
Facilities & Service: There was construction happening in the lobby during my stay, but it didn't hinder anything or impact the experience. They were a little "sketchy" at times and didn't always feel consistent, but we continued to use them. The morning meal was good and a nice inclusion.
Staff Responsiveness: This is a pet-friendly hotel. We did have a dog barking on our floor for a while, but once we texted our concern to the staff, they addressed it immediately and the barking stopped.
Value: The cost was decent, especially considering how expensive everything is these days. Overall, a great stay in a wonderful location!"
"Needs a shower that has shower doors and needs better lighting in the restroom. Breakfast hours aren't convenient especially when people on vacation. "
