Valamar Tirena Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was really relaxing, staff was really helpful and very kind and caring.
The one thing that no one sent us a message about was that the hotel offers free transfer of your luggage to the hotel from the ferry station. Once you give your luggage, you can take a straight path following the shore to the back of the hotel appx 10 minute walk. We took a taxi because we were so exhausted.
Our room was in the 4000 wing and we were facing a cute little yard with nice trees and bushes. We had a family room/suite that was very spacious with a nice big balcony. Modern bathroom with a deep tub. The beds were very comfortable and the AC was working great.
The breakfast as many reviews mention was incredible. Multiple stations to order an omlet. I especially loved the yogurt station with lots of options (chia seeds, all sorts of nuts, granola, ...).assorted fruit, the Feta cheese was so delicious. Pancake, waffles, bacon, assorted cold cuts and cheese. The best earl gray tea I have ever had.
The pool was very quiet and had a nice slide for the kids. There were plenty of lounge chairs for us to choose between sun and shade. Make sure you drop off your pool towels at the kiosk every night otherwise you will be charged for them. The food at the bar was okay, we had the burger and pizza.
We had a very relaxing stay and it was just perfect for us. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant."
"Fantastic hotel with outstanding views. Nice walk along the boardwalk where there are restaurants etc & a shingle beach (no chairs to hire). Breakfast was lovely & staff excellent.
Food at the hotel is expensive but if you cross the road & walk through the resort next to the bus stop there are minimarkets, souvenir shops & cheaper places to eat. Walk on 5 minutes more to Copocobana beach which is pretty.
Buses to Old Town run every 10 minutes or so & dont cost much but be prepared to be squashed in!
Nice rocky hotel beach with loungers & umberellas but we didnt sit there at the end after spotting a snake! Apparently domestic, protected & harmless but if you dont like snakes it may put you off sitting there. Lovely swimming off the hotel beach but bring surf shoes as there are sea urchins."
"What a disappointment. This hotel is advertised as a 4 star hotel. It’s a 2 star hotel at best. It’s old, the amenities are not maintained, it smells like cigarette smoke EVERYWHERE, and the rooms were dirty and dingy. The room carpet was stained and old, there were cobwebs with large spiders in the room corners. There were clear signs of water damage near the windows and balcony/patio door. The specific room we booked, and paid extra for, advertised a trundle bed option. The trundle bed was a joke; was a small seat that folded out with some plywood and pillows thrown on to make the appearance of a “bed”. The mini golf course looked like something you’d see in a redneck American trailer park.
The breakfast included was rough as well. Everything tasted old and stale.
The staff was super friendly though. Téa was incredibly nice. We messaged the hotel prior to arrival to request that the trundle bed be setup upon arrival, and received a confirmation from the hotel through the Expedia message system that it would in fact be setup upon arrival. When we did arrive the trundle wasn’t setup and we were exhausted from a long day of travel. Téa felt so bad that it hadn’t been taken care of and did her best to quickly set it up.
Other pros: the parking was affordable at 5 euros per day and the location is very convenient with an excellent view of the bay and old town.
For the price we paid though, $230 USD per night after taxes for two singles and a trundle, it was abysmal."
"Staff was excellent at reception. They were very helpful. The buffet was very good for dinner as was the restaurant we ate lunch in. The staff that we encountered in the restaurants and everywhere else were very friendly and helpful. Service overall was excellent."
"WE LOVED THIS HOTEL! PERFECT LOCATION AND LOVELY SPA, ROOFTOP POOL, BEDS REALLY COMFY, BEAUTIFUL ROOMS. GREAT PRICE. WE COULD NOT ASK FOR MORE - OH & BREAKFAST WAS YUMMY & INCLUDED!"
"Perfect location for us! Beautiful hotel in a more quiet location, however very walkable to the old town Dubrovnik and all the action. Amazing breakfast and great restaurants on the property. Would definitely stay again!"
