Hotel Esplanade Zagreb
10/10 Excellent
"This is the premier hotel in Zagreb. Its history with the Orient Express speaks for itself.
The room we had was run entirely by touch screens. Everything from A/C controls to lights and curtains were controlled by touch screens throughout the room. We only stayed two nights, but I’d give this hotel high marks."
"We were upgraded to a suite so we had lots of room and two bathrooms. Bed was very comfortable as were the chairs. excellent breakfast included with wide selection. Staff very helpful sorting out wifi problem and arranging takeout breakfast for our early checkout."
"Wow what a great stay! We cannot express how much we appreciated being able to check in early after arriving very jet-lagged. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The park was easy out in front of the hotel but there are also garages nearby. The location was perfect. The room was very nice- clean, spacious, and modern with cold AC and fast WiFi. I initially was considering a different hotel since it was slightly cheaper but I am so so grateful I chose this hotel over anywhere else, we would definitely stay again."
"Nice apartment and comfortable beds close to lower town. It is about 15 min walk to main bus stop so definitely a plus to catch bus for intercity travels or going to Plitvice National park."
"I liked the location and the hotel in general, although there were a couple of things that could’ve been better. There didn’t seem to be any obvious parking and there wasn’t any tea or coffee making facilities in the room which was frustrating. The staff on reception were brilliant though"
"TLDR: Helpful staff but aging infrastructure.
We stayed for 3 nights. The first room had a strong odd odour (probably of dampness). The staff moved us to a new room that smelled clean.
Unfortunately, the second room had water a water leak from the bathroom ceiling. We informed the staff, and they sent a technician that told us that it would require a repairman and that he can't help us. They did not have any other rooms that night, so we stayed there one more night."
