"A pub restaurant with rooms located close to Carlisle which was ideal for work location for me. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The restaurant food is delicious and the service very good too. On site parking in a rural setting just a nice place to stay and/or dine out. "

"We had a fantastic one night stay with our family of two adults, two children (11 and 6) and dog. We especially loved exploring the grounds, meeting the peacocks and relaxed dining in the drawing room (Polly the pooch was made very welcome and the service was 5*). The staff were lovely and dealt with all our queries with a smile. The daily tour of the castle was another highlight, with a knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide. Thanks for a wonderful stay! 😊"

The location was great for the town centre and a lovely riverside walk just a few minutes away.
Wi-fi worked really well and free parking at the rear of the hotel was much appreciated. "

"The rest of the hotel never quite lives up to the jaw-drooping grand entrance hall, but it's still all very impressive. The main dining room gives you an idea of what eating at Blandings Castle would have been like, the bed was very comfy, and the gym/pool are top notch"

"From our friendly welcome, where we we recognised from our previous visit a few years ago, to our farewell when we were virtually waved off, it was a great stay.
The room was clean, well decorated and so warm, to see the frost and ice on our car when we opened the curtains, was quite a shock.
The bed was soft and comfortable and we both slept very well.
Breakfast, mine the full English, my wife, porridge, was excellent.
In every respect we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will happily go...
