"Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. While the staff was very nice, that couldn't make up for the fact that the room, bathroom, and towels were dirty. The bathroom smelled like sewage. I also booked this hotel in large part because they said they had air conditioning, but when we got back to the hotel after a very hot and sunny day, we were told the hotel was still in heat mode and the AC didn't work. They told us to open our window to cool the room. All that did was let in the street noise. They did provide a small fan, but it didn't do much. There are many hotels to pick from in York, just pick a different one."

"The only issue we had was the noise in the evening as our room was directly above the bar. Also our family Mr & Mrs Thirkell were upgraded without charge as their original room was without a window which I do think we should have been made aware of before booking. Having said that the window didn’t close in the room properly and their heater didn’t work so they were frozen "

"This hotel is amazing. We’ve been coming here as a family of 4 for over 7 years and every time it’s great. We’ve especially come for the pool and breakfast which are both excellent. I’d like to highlight the exemplary breakfast staff who do their upmost to make sure it’s special. Special hot chocolate? No problem. Special hot muffins? No problem. We use the family sized rooms and they’re great for a family of 4 with 2 big kids."

"Bedroom was clean but needed some maintenance. Disappointing stay for the amount of money. Buffet breakfast not upto our usual stranded. No hash brown. No mushrooms. Extra charge for car parking which is not noted on the website! Ridiculous price at £20 per night. Definitely wouldn't stay again. Only positive is the location. "

"Sharon in housekeeping kept room clean Guy at breakfast on Easter Sunday gave great walking recommendations (didn’t get name) Friendly front desk staff. Parking was easy, right underneath. "
