Farnton Hill, Long Riston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Looking west-northwest along the public footpath on the parish boundary between Rise and Riston. There has been a training course for race horses here since the 19th century and the first circular track around Farnton Hill may have been created by William Bethell of Rise, whose horse won the St. Leger in 1780. There is a 'no entry' sign on every track leading onto the hill, the highest point of which is only 23 metres above sea level. A track of sand mixed with wool runs alongside the footpath to Long Riston village.

"Overall the stay was ok, the room was a good size for our family and breakfast was nice. However the hotel was a little run down and the pool and hot tub were cold. We didn't have a very enjoyable evening meal experience either as the staff made hard work of the ordering process and complicated it through having to order some bits from the bar and then waiting to order other bits from the restaurant menu. When i asked the main manager on duty what the food was like and what she recommended in the restaurant i was told i wouldn't know I've never eaten here so how would i know what its like. Great! Not impressed. "
