Top neighborhoods in Albuquerque

Old Town Albuquerque
Explore historic adobe buildings, dine at numerous restaurants, and shop at various stores in this popular tourist destination. Don't miss the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, and the nearby New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.
Nob Hill
Nob Hill delivers a Route 66 experience that's both nostalgic and hip. Neon signs light up vintage motels while indie boutiques, art galleries, and craft breweries create a buzzing scene along Central Avenue. You can catch live shows at the iconic El Rey Theater, browse colorful murals, or check out the diverse food scene that spans from street tacos to upscale New Mexican cuisine. The neighborhood boasts excellent walkability with ART bus stations making it easy to explore. Mid-century architecture with pueblo revival influences gives the area its distinct character. Most shops open from 10am to 8pm, while the lively nightlife keeps going well past midnight.

Downtown Albuquerque
Central business district with highrise buildings, Downtown Albuquerque offers shopping, dining, and nightlife along Central and Gold Avenues. Explore landmarks like KiMo Theater and enjoy convenient public transit options.

Uptown
Uptown Albuquerque is a shopper's paradise with three major malls where you can browse for hours. Between Coronado Center's marble corridors and ABQ Uptown's modern shops, retail therapy is always within reach. Business travelers will feel right at home among the gleaming office towers and hotel-lined streets. Take a break from shopping at nearby attractions like the Regal Winrock cinema or Jerry Cline Tennis Center. Chain restaurants dominate the dining scene with plenty of places serving up authentic New Mexican cuisine—green chile appears on most menus. Hotels cater primarily to business travelers with comfortable amenities and professional service. While not the most walkable area, free parking is plentiful and ABQ RIDE bus routes connect you to downtown and the airport.

Balloon Fiesta Park - North I-25
Balloon Fiesta Park turns the New Mexico sky into a floating rainbow every October when hundreds of hot air balloons create a magical morning spectacle. This 365-acre venue offers perfect sunrise views of the famous "mass ascension" against Sandia Mountain backdrops. Beyond balloon season, the expansive green space welcomes picnickers, kite flyers, and those seeking panoramic desert vistas. Grab breakfast burritos from food trucks during festival time or visit nearby chain restaurants along I-25. While there's no lodging in the park itself, Albuquerque hotels and temporary RV camping spots serve festival-goers well. A car is essential for exploring this area, with ample parking available during events.

At the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, hundreds of colorful hot air balloons paint the desert sky. The Sandia Peak Tramway carries you above deep canyons to mountain views that stretch forever. ABQ BioPark combines a zoo, aquarium, and botanical garden where desert plants thrive alongside exotic species. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center offers authentic dances and fry bread. After dark, neon signs along Route 66 glow against the night sky, while the Sunshine Theater hosts bands in a century-old movie palace.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Albuquerque
"Cool place."
Garner Hotel Albuquerque Airport by IHG
"Everything was clean. The def bolt didn’t lock in 333 unless mill you pulled the door back towards you. Everything else was good."
Nativo Lodge Hotel Albuquerque
"We made this charming hotel our home base for a 4 day 3 night stay in ABQ. We loved it and their reasonable pricing made staying an extra night affordable. It's location it 15-20 min from main tourist stops like Sandia Peak Tramway and Old Towne Plaza easily accessed. It was right off I25 and made our day visit to Santa Fe a breeze. One disadvantage was after a long days excursions, you couldn't stop at the restaurant and lounge to grab a cocktail/bottle of champagne to your room. While it's not a deal breaker for us, since we were enjoying our 33-year anniversary we wanted to enjoy a bottle of champagne and didn't think about stopping at a package store... The one thing that stood out to me that may seem strange, but it was the pillows!! They were amazing and as one who gets a crick in their neck, I say having the comfort of home in the pillows on our bed that much better!"

"Clean rooms, and amenities were excellent"
The Clyde Hotel
"This was a really nice mid-priced hotel downtown. I wanted a place that was nice, close to UNM and not crazy expensive, and it hit all those marks. Our room had a nice tub for soaking and was clean enough that I could. They don't serve breakfast but they do provide in room coffee that you can make. The 1922 bar and lounge was ok, reasonably priced but they didn't cook our burgers well one like we asked. It was within walking distance of a lot of downtown food places. I would like to stay here againwhen visiting ABQ"

"Rooms were clean and a lot of parking was available!"

"Very close to airport and shuttle service was quick both ways. First night upon arrival staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and okay. Booked again for another night before departure. The room had a musty odor but I was too tired to take the necessary steps to change up. No elevator."
Sandia Resort And Casino
"Great stay and clean room, however not all Staff members were kind or courteous , and The food and drinks weren’t very good at the pool cantina - it should’ve been so much better for price we pay to stay, and the fact New Mexico has some of the best food and drinks , there’s no excuse. Also the pool was so cold and a bit overcrowded with so many people and children everywhere - it would be nice to have an adults only pool in addition. We both got hit with a few toys the kids threw around. It’s nice, but for the type of celebration we took there it could’ve been better. Especially for the cost/night - I could’ve booked round trip 4 days in Mexico with all inclusive, great hospitality and adults only pools with better food for the price I paid for two nights at Sandia. We generously rate our stay 7/10"
