Learn more about Big Sur
Winding along the Pacific Coast Highway, you'll find yourself caught between mountains and sea in a landscape that defies belief. Bixby Bridge arches dramatically over a coastal canyon, providing the perfect photo opportunity. At Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, witness McWay Falls tumbling directly onto the beach below. Pfeiffer Beach rewards visitors with purple-tinged sand and massive rock formations with wave-carved keyholes. Los Padres National Forest offers hiking trails through ancient redwood groves where sunlight filters through in cathedral-like beams. Accommodations fill quickly, so book well ahead. Local tip: bring provisions as services are scarce along this magnificent stretch of coastline.

Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay
"We had a great stay. The lobby and restaurants were beautiful. The location was wonderful and super close to Fisherman's Wharf."
Cavalier Oceanfront Resort
"Nice room, views and balcony!"
Carmel Mission Inn
"We stayed here basically as a stop, to sleep for the night, but we would book again and stay longer"
The Stevenson Monterey
"Good value for Monterey. Nice clean room. Easy walk to Fisherman's Wharf"
Lovers Point Inn
"This seems to be an old hotel. But it is reasonably priced. The rooms are old, but everything was in working condition and just fine. The plus side of this hotel is definitely the location. Walk across the street to a restaurant and good coffee and you can’t beat the view. The staff was nice and helpful."
Bay Breeze Inn
"Rooms were clean beds were comfortable pillows were comfortable. They also had a microwave and refrigerator which was handy. Lotta shops, restaurants, right nearby, which made it really convenient."
Lighthouse Lodge And Cottages
"We honestly loved everything about this place and plan to go back again. Only issue we had was there is serious asphalt damage due to roots pushing up from the ground at the cottage side. It was a bit of a struggle for our small car but going at it from an angle helps. There was some rust damage in the rooms but honestly kind of expect it because it's on the coast. Other then that it was lovely. The fire pits at night were amazing especially with a glass of wine. And a jetted tub in the cottage was a nice e surprise."
Lucia Lodge
"Property is well kept. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Towels were soft, they seemed brand new. Choice of tea and coffee was superb. Definitely will stay here again. Oh and the view…breathtaking!"
