Learn more about Wells
Forget the typical beach town clichés – Wells delivers coastal Maine at its most authentic. Wander the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge where salt marshes host more birds than people. The beaches here offer distinct personalities: Wells Beach for classic seaside energy, Drakes Island for quieter contemplation, and Moody Beach for long walks. Summer brings lobster rolls in unpretentious shacks where the focus remains on the seafood. Kayak through tidal estuaries or visit during low tide when beaches double in size. Antique shops along Route 1 provide rainy day entertainment. The town's 1643 founding makes it one of Maine's oldest settlements, though nobody seems particularly hung up about it.

Anchor Inn and Cottages Wells-Ogunquit
"The property was conveniently located between Wells and Ogunquin. We stayed in the two bedroom efficiency perfect for two couples and children. The staff was friendly and was accommodating upon late arrival. Wi-Fi access was weak and could use increase in signal strength, however they were pet friendly which is great when you bring your furry friend. I would stay here again!"
Tallwood Motel Wells
"Passing through heading to Acadia national Park and would stay again. Not complaining, but Only had 2 pillows and no blow dryer in room. The shower is super super small. No tub. I asked for one and he said he’d bring it to me, but never showed up. Minor thing.."
Elmwood Resort Hotel
"I didn’t have enough time to explore the pool, I hope see you again next year . But everything was good."
Ne'r Beach Motel
"Nice and clean place I like it"
Footbridge North Hotel
"The staff was fantastic and very helpful. The room was clean and had everything I needed."
The Majestic Regency Resort
"This was my second two night stay at the Majestic. They are in the process of updating their rooms. My room had a beautiful new bed and carpet appeared new as well. I found the room to be nicer than my first stay several years ago. Aarron (apologies if I'm spelling your name wrong) at the front desk was very friendly and very helpful. Upon checking in I asked if there were any 'no pets' rooms given my allergies and he moved me to one. When I had thought I lost my room key there were no issues in giving me another one (fortunately I found the one I misplaced). If I had to pick at one thing to improve it would be the cable TV in that I couldn't find a guide that easily told me and took me to what was on. Up channel, down channel had to do. I'm a low budget guy and am grateful that there is a motel close to Ogunquit that gives me a very reasonable price for a place that I found to be clean, quiet and safe. I will definitely stay at the Majestic again the next time I plan a trip to Ogunquit. Neil P."
Wells Moody Motel
"It worked fine for a one night stay. The room was clean, if a bit small, and it was quiet for me. It's a budget place but I think a fair value. The innkeeper was friendly."
Atlantic Oceanfront Hotel
"Fantastic staff!!!!"
Haven By The Sea B&B Inn
"I think this property is in the process of becoming a wonderful inn, but is not there yet. Under new ownership the past couple of years, the two brothers who own it seem serious about creating a first class stay experience, but still have some work to do. The fireplace pilot should have been turned on so we could enjoy it, since that was one of the reasons I booked our room there and no one was available to request that it be working. Lighting in the room was quite poor, with some burnt out light bulbs and the magnifying makeup mirror light was dim at best. There should be soap, shampoo, and conditioner available at the jacuzzi tub. The room overall was lovely. Nice touch with the comfy bathrobes. Breakfast was delicious! Worth giving a second chance."
