"A lovely stay at a family run ryokan very near Gora station. It is not luxurious accommodation by any means but the staff are very sweet and kind. The place is a little rustic but the food is amazing!! Actually they could cut down on a few dishes and it would still be too much to eat! "The staff of Gora Kansuiro is a highlight of this ryokan. Everyone showed above and beyond hospitality, from the moment we even stepped into the parking lot! The location, tucked in the green woods with gardens and walking paths surrounding it, is perfect - just a short walk from Gora station (also note: the switchback train up the mountain to Gora station is a wonderful unique experience all on its own). "This was an amazing option to stay at for two nights. We could drop our bags, do the Hakone Gora loop clockwise with a bus stop 1 min from the door, with delicious sushi and a convenience store nearby too (for breakfeast options). Having the the Open Air Museum and a train stop nearby was perfect. The place itself was tidy, warm, had all the essentials we needed, plus a generously sized bathtub (with TV) to relax after completing the loop. The views were beautiful too."

"Very nice Ryokan situated in a beautiful part of Hakone. The area in general is hilly and difficult to get around but that’s true of anywhere in Hakone. This is located very close to Gora station which is as convenient as it gets whether you want to sightsee in Owakudani or head back towards Odawara station.
