"The reception staff were excellent - very efficient, informative and smart. Breakfast was phenomenal - lots of choice and the food was exceptional. We dawdled in the breakfast room for some time after the breakfast period ended and were under absolutely no pressure to move.
Our room was very small and although we had booked a double everything seemed to be set up for a single occupant - single chair, single towel in the bathroom etc. The bathroom. Was looking very tired - the bath itself had lost most of its original coating through wear under the shower.
The hotel advertises that it has a pool and a gym - we were told we couldn’t use the gym and when we got changed to go for a swim we were told that we were not allowed in the pool because there was an aqua fit class using it for an hour. The only alternative, the jacuzzi, had tepid water in it plus there was no relaxation there because of the ear shattering noise from the aqua fit class - an extremely loud sound system competing with the screaming shouting from the aqua class leader! Unpleasant and frankly a waste of time.
This morning whilst my wife was getting dressed there was a sharp knock at the door followed almost immediately by a man bursting into the room saying that he needed to check our radiator! Wow!! He was sent packing but it does beg the question of just how private are your rooms at this Delta hotel? Could he have waited until after checkout time? Could he have apologised for the intrusion? (He didn’t!). "
"Room was spotless and appeared to have been recently decorated. Unfortunately there were cracks in the sink and the hotel generally looks a little tired.
The hotel staff were amazing … all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Particularly Aziz at breakfast and the wonderful bartender Mal. He couldn’t do enough for us, moving furniture around and asking us if we wanted any particular music to be played. He really went above and beyond to make my 89 year old mum’s evening. "
"Pleasantly surprised considering what I paid for studio apartment. Well equipped, spotless, spacious had everyrhing we needed. Didn't use restaurant but was available, games room with pool, table tennis and other things to amuse kids plus small amusement arcade. Bar nice for quiet drink which closed at ten. Staff very friendly and helpful and surrounding beautiful with lake. Supermarkets 5 mins away by car, station museum worth a wee visit in carnforth. Will visit again"
"We have stayed at the Skipton hotel on a number of occasions and always felt that it was good value for money. There has been some improvements to the property in particular the restaurant. Unfortunately there has been a deterioration in the breakfast!! The coffee served from a heated urn was not hot and when I remarked on this the waitress lifted the lid and remarked well there was steam! The breakfast area was rather cramped which made serving yourself difficult and again the hot breakfast was not hot. Even the eggs fresh from the kitchen were only luke warm. We were very disappointed with our experience and since on this occasion we had to pay extra for breakfast, I don’t think we will be venturing to the Skipton hotel again. "

"The stay was the worst hotel stay I have probably ever had especially for the price. The room I upgraded to I ended up buying an airbed for the additional bed as the quality was awful. I had a room for 3 people and only had 2 sets of towels, mugs and glasses etc and had to ask multiple times for extras at one point I even ended up with LESS. The restaurant was extremely slow and I was charged a different price for the same meal three days in a row. The room was not very clean and at one pint when I asked for an extra mug the staff asked if I could leave the door on the latch as they didn’t have a key at which point I refused and then I came back to find my door open I assume by one of the staff who had left it that way. Dreadful experience and would not recommend staying.
The only redeeming quality was how good the gym was."
"First room was appalling…. Usually every village hotel experience we have had has been first class and clean. Not the case with Bury unfortunately. We told staff and got another room which was better (club room) but still had some blood? Stain on the walls and windows were marked with hand marks but I was too embarrassed to complain again. The corridors, lifts and general areas were grubby. We have stayed at Hull, Chester, Edinburgh and this was by far a total letdown."
