Quite a quiet town, lots of lovely coastline to explore, the Holyhead breakwater country park is a wonderful way to spend a few hours exploring. Great restaurants around too. Friendly locals, not much for teens to do though. No arcades etc..

Good
The initial run of shops/pubs greeting you from the Ferry port doesn't give the best first impression. However, around the corner by the Marina and the Town Centre have a nice feel (and the locals are very friendly).

Excellent
It's a small town so is highly walkable. The train/ferry stations are connected to town via a pedestrian bridge. It was beautiful when we visited in mid-June.

Hidden gems like Harbourside Bistro! Very pleasant train trip there from Manchester. Just glad it wasn't raining on the trek to the ferry terminal.
"I arrived arr. 1pm, much earlier than normal hotel checkin time. As I came from West coast USA, I was exhausted due to time difference and having not a good sleep before the day, just about to collapse. The young lady led me to a back room as my room-to-be was not cleaned yet. It was not a usual guest room, a kind of a special room with sofa. I just fell in sleep on the sofa until she came to get me. Because of that short sleep, I could get my normal sense back.
This hotel is close to the sea. you can eat breakfast watching the boats floating on the peaceful sea.
They have quiz nights, something night (can’t remember), gathering village people in their salon. This place is not a Hilton nor any big name hotel, but all the people working there are really nice folks, very kind, friendly, and sincere. I am going back there after 3 days in other city. People who love sincerity, old days’ way of life will love this small friendly guesthouse.

"Fantastic for the ferry and train stations. Immaculately clean. Had a wonderful sleep. Was lovely to have breakfast in guest lounge room. This would easily win Four In A Bed as best guest house. "
"Hubby and I stayed for just one night on a road trip. When we arrived Siam was there to give us a very warm welcome and show us to our room which was very good value for a standard room. We didn’t stay for breakfast as we needed to leave early but we did meet Phil and he and Sian make wonderful hosts - welcoming, warm, friendly and super helpful. During an incredibly frustrating issue with Expedia Sian spent a long time on the phone with them assisting me. Both Phil and Sian are genuine, honest hosts who clearly put their customers first. We totally recommend the Haven Guest House, it’s a stone’s throw from the ferry and easy walking distance to both the shops and Harbour. It’s good value and you’ll be in great hands"
