Everything was good with the exception of the air conditioner / fan unit. It just wasn't working and we didn't figure that out until midnight. The hotel staff did what they could to try to fix the problem, and it just wasn't something we could fix so late. I appreciated their effort. Breakfast was really amazing, and the room had a great view. Highly recommended, especially if you need parking. Bus comes frequently and is direct, takes only 10 minutes or so.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Hammer. The hotel is located outside the town of Kriens and is accessible via a long windy road by either car or bus. If you're bringing a car, like we did, you can park for free at the hotel and use the regional bus and train system to get around the area. The bus can take you directly to Lucerne in about 25-30 mins. There's also fantastic hikes and "wanderwegs" that are accessible by foot right outside the hotel's door. The hotel provided a lovely...

This is a wonderful historical property that has been recently renovated and is currently in great shape. The room and common areas are tastefully decorated with color and charm, and the fixtures are up to date and modern. It sits on a hillside above the town, but there is a dedicated elevator (furnicular) that leads directly from the street to the property. The staff was great but Expedia may want to stop using the motel. Every night except Saturday and Sunday (Easter weekend) it was very loud outside until 1 pm. Loud music, loud talking and traffic noise came from outside the hotel, I do not know if it came from the restaurant or the bar across the street. The windows need to be upgraded. The breakfast was good and had the best bread during my trip in Switzerland, which included other hotel breakfasts and bakeries I visited. Staff were helpful and the rooms were fine. The walk to and from the station was pleasant as it passes by an area that I assume is a communal gardening area. Note that if you have mobility issues, there were a few stairs up and down to our rooms after taking the elevator to our floor, though there were some rooms before these stairs.

The room was really spacious and had an awesome lake view. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They give you a free bus pass to use during your stay. You get on right out front and it takes you to the city center or train station in about 15 minutes. Very easy and convenient. We were very pleased with our 2 night stay in Lucerne at the Cascada. The hotel is a convenient distance from the train station, an easy walk with luggage but far enough away that you can't hear trains. Reception was excellent and was able to get us into our room a couple hours before check-in time. They also were able to put us in a room towards the quiet back side of the building (little to no street noise.) Switzerland uses outlet plugs which are different from anywhere we've been in Europe....
