"No wonder my friend said we had to stay at the Shiroyama on learning we are going to Kagoshima. The hotel is like the Tokyo Imperial Hotel and more transported to this location on top of a hill, facing the Sakurajima volcano, which one can stare at while bathing in the open air mineral waters at the onsen/spa. There are many different restaurants inside this enormous place so we dined in for the 2 nights. There is a shuttle service to the downtown area to while the daytime hours, which also...

"I have stayed here once before - it's perfect for a quick stay in Kagoshima city. Located in a quiet corner of Tenmonkan near shops and restaurants. It's very clean and quiet. The breakfast is a set menu, which I do not recommend for vegetarians/vegans (am one myself) but the parts I could eat were good. I will stay again if I need to stay in the area for a short time. "

"70ies charm hotel. Tidy but a bit worn down. Low ceilings and dark wooden colors in the hallway. Had a room with blinded windows…No elevator at all, but friendly staff will help carrying heavy luggage upstairs (2nd floor). Street car stop is close in walking distance."
