"Reception staff were amazing. We were late down for breakfast and a breakfast was kept back for us to eat later. Comfy bed and the room had been refurbished. Parts of the hotel were a little tired and the lift could do with a spruce up, particularly the ashtray which I've not seen in a lift before. Overall great customer service and a good nights sleep. "

"A lovely hotel with great facilities. The twin room was huge with plenty of space and really comfy beds! Good value breakfast with lots of options. We also used the pool which was an added bonus. Although mostly adults seemed to be staying in the hotel, my 3 year old was made to feel very welcome. We will definitely be back! "

"The staff from Holly on reception and bar and restaurant through to the Taps bar and breakfast staff were all excellent and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The place was in good condition and had attractive bar and restaurant areas, as well as rooms and waiting areas. You have to park across the road but it’s not expensive. I’d recommend the Taps bar on a Monday, if you are a cask ale drinker £3 per pint!"

"The rooms are above The Royal Alfred pub. An entry code is sent to you to gain access to the property and room. Staff are at hand in the pub should you need them. I didn’t have any problems accessing the room. My room was large with a King Bed. It was spotlessly clean. I was only staying for one night but would quite happily stay for longer in the future. The accommodation is a 20m walk from St Helens rail station so getting around is easy. The pub itself was busy but you couldn’t hear any noise...

"Impressive reception area, main stair case and restaurant area. Friendly, welcoming staff. Bedroom fine - clean and comfortable. En-suite bathroom a little tired but functional and perfectly acceptable. Very quiet overnight. Excellent breakfast. The hotel is in lovely grounds which give direct access to the reservoirs and country park beyond, ideal for an early morning stroll. Plenty of car parking space."
