The facilities may be a bit dated compared to big brands, but the staff, the food, view and the serene surroundings more than make up the fancy gadgets that might not be available. "Staff extremely helpful! Good position touching Nara deer park, walkable from train station. Good ryokan, albeit the 90’s feeling of the overall deco. Decent indoor and outdoor pools (medium-small); self-service rooftop bar for a moderate fee. Didn’t try breakfast or other meals, just a one-night break between Kyoto and Osaka."
