We opted for three nights here after 2 nights at a 5-star in old town Yogyakarta and were delighted the contrast. This was quiet and more personable. The "in-village" experience was pleasant, never obtrusive. Security and comfort were good. Though much was written in other reviews about the noise from the mosques nearby, they did not bother us at all - it was actually a nice sampling of one part of life for most Indonesians and not disturbing of our rest. Lovely experience in an old historical hotel offering every modern convenience you could expect and want. You do get more than your monies' worth. Great room (choose the ones overlooking the pool), attentive staff, excellent breakfast but do go early to take advantage of all the choices. How often do you get live gamelan music played while eating your morning meal?
