"I hope the hotel is interested. First, on check in I wanted assurance that the room is quiet. I was assured. In fact the room faces the street and is noisy. Fortunately I was able to substantially cover the sounds with the a/c fan. Second, my wife thought the porter who brought our bags up said the items in the mini fridge were free. I don't recall seeing anything in the room with prices. So we were mildly shocked at check out. Maybe she didn't hear him properly. Third, the hotel does not have any irons or ironing boards. It has a service that will steam your clothes with a 50 euro deposit. Never seen this before. Fourth, we asked for a fork to be brought to the room. We were told we would be charged a room service fee but we could come down and get it. Strange we get shampoo instantly but no fork. Fifth, I wanted to buy euros at front desk. The going rate was 88 euro to the dollar. The hotel was offering 66. I've exchanged currency and usually received a rate on par with the banks. This should be a service for the guest, not a big profit source The hotel needs renovation. I see the manager insists it's historical, but the rooms and the hotel generally need repairs and replacement. Just my opinion. But, I think the rooms are spacious, the welcome champagne and fruit bowl are well appreciated and the bathroom is really five star."

"This review is for the Della Calza, the sister hotel of Horto, where we were offered a n opportunity to stay. The Horto, which we originally booked, and arrived at, looked very nice., however upon arrival, the receptionist, Cherish, offered us an upgrade to the newly renovated Della Calza. Della Calza had an excellent spa, where guests could enjoy complimentary 2 hour services daily. Our room was beautifully clean, well appointed, facing the courtyard. The breakfast, which was included in our package, was fantastic. Close to Boboli Gardens, to the Roman Gate, walking distance to the Ponte Vecchio. Located in a beautiful neighborhood, surrounded by trattorias, shops, artisan workshops. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, helpful with dinner reservations, getting tips on transportation, and nearby attractions. Laura (receptionist) and her companions were very helpful, recommended a nice day trip to Fiesole, a beautiful nearby town. She was always there with a smile, ready to answer any questions. The breakfast staff (Mena and Elenora) were superb, welcoming offering the best morning cappuccino to complement the delicious breakfast. Khan, the bartender, stood out as a friendly, polite young man that could whip up a nice old fashioned, a terrific negroni, and of course, the best aperol spritz around. We look forward to returning to the beautiful Della Calza. I’m glad we chose a courtyard facing room, as the traffic on the street can get quite busy. Highly recommend."

"The staff is A+. So unbelievably kind and helpful. Hotel in the middle of everything you want. The only issue and it’s not the staff’s fault is the noise level from outdoors and the squeaking sound from the furniture when u walk because of the level of the floor or old furniture. Also you can hear ever door shut and close, ours too. I will stay here again because of the location and staff for sure. I just need maybe a different room and or different area. I recommend staying here for the hospitality and breakfast. Beds are comfortable for sure."

"We were upgraded to a balcony room with a view of the city centre and main duomo, this room was quiet being at the other side of property not facing the main train station. Speaking of transportation, 3min walk when arriving by train and the tram is at your door. We walked the city easily from here. Room was good, bathroom small which is normal in Europe Great selection of breakfast options Staff were friendly and helpful"

"Putting the bug in budget. Avoid a room over the road on the first or second floors because there are no curtains and if you need a dark room to sleep, a guess it's tough? Shower space was absolutely tiny. Beds comfortable and clean, basic breakfast with a nice view (though for some reason sitting outside was off-limits? why?!) Only stay here for a night if you're in a bind, otherwise, seek something else. I guess you get what you pay for eh"
