Learn more about Salinas
Wander through the National Steinbeck Center, where the Nobel laureate's words spring to life amid personal artifacts and interactive exhibits. The California Rodeo Grounds host events that reveal the city's cowboy soul, complete with dust clouds and thundering hooves. At Steinbeck House, the author's Victorian childhood home now serves literary-themed lunches that feel like dining in a novel. The Monterey Zoo offers surprisingly intimate encounters with retired movie animals who seem pleased with their career change. Agricultural fields stretch to the horizon, explaining why locals proudly call this the 'Salad Bowl of the World.' For a perfect day trip, the world-class Monterey Bay Aquarium sits just minutes away on the coast.

Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa
"Great stay! Close to everything notable. Very comfortable and worth the price."
Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa
"Beautiful, clean, quiet mini suite upstairs! Lacks amenities, one tiny bar soap for the entire unit, no writing pads/pens anywhere. Parking is difficult and you have to go around the whole property to find a parking spot, that makes the unloading and carrying your luggage a task ! my suggestion is, since the hotel is charging $17.00 a night for parking, they should mark/assign parking spaces near your rooms.By the way, do not eat at Esteban's , over rated, overpriced, bad attitude by the waitresses and Baaad food!! Do not order Pizza Margarita unless you are ready to eat a third of charcoal and have a blender to grind the dough !! not edible!! we returned two pizzas and called Primo the Manager to complain about it!"
Monterey Beach Hotel, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel
"Could not find ice for the life of us, yet an ice bucket is provided. If there in an ice machine…it should be easier to locate. Where our room was located we could hear the elevator all night, and the beds and pillows were really quite uncomfortable. There was a spring in my back on my side of the bed. Everything else was great, staff was very helpful. We also had a strange experience at the hotel restaurant. We had finished eating, I got up to use the restroom and asked my partner to order desert. Apparently immediately after I left for the restroom the waitress brought my partner the check and asked if he was staying in the hotel. He described it as an awkward experience and just paid because it felt like they wanted us out. We were never checked on during dinner by our waitress, and then almost rushed out. It was an awkward experience and we ended up getting a free desert for it because I inquired to another waiter why we were not offered desert. I appreciate the free desert, however the entire experience left my partner feeling very awkward and like we had done something wrong. For an expensive meal, you would expect the service to be better."
Pacific Inn
"Beautiful property"
Carmel Mission Inn
"Very good experience overall. Does everything it needs to and staff were excellent."
Monarch Resort
"Fireplace was a nice touch!"
Stargazer Hotel
"A cute little motel in Monterey, we got the family room for our family of 5 and it was HUGE - very and spacious. In-room coffee but also a great coffee machine in the main office/lobby with all kinds of fun options like cappuccino. Parking lot is small though we always found a spot. Lovely .5 mile walk to downtown with tons of dining options (including cafes for breakfast). Only negative was the pool hours - it actually closes before their "quiet hours" and wasn't conducive to swimming or lounging in the hot tub after a late dinner."
Motel 6 Marina, CA - Monterey
"Está muy limpio cómodo y en buen lugar"
The Stevenson Monterey
"Good location The hotel is simple but it’s worth what we paid for"
