This is a wonderful place to stay in Puna. It is in the heart of the area and they regularly host events, which can be fun to attend. They have a cafe at the reception area with some healthy food options, mostly pre-made.
The staff was so friendly. There were lots of animals: peacocks, cats, frogs, geese. We loved it! We booked it to be closer to Volcanoes National Park, without realizing there was no road that cuts across. We had to go amidst to Hilo in order to go back down to the Volcanoes, so it wasn't the most convenient, but we loved the vibe!

What a cute place! We had a wonderful stay at Hale 'Ohu Bed & Breakfast to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The place was clean & comfortable, the breakfast was nice, and the owners were helpful with area recommendations. We stayed in the Ohia Ranch Retreat room. This was easily the most beautiful room we’ve ever stayed in. The aesthetic of the stained wood beams, hard wood floors and furnishings was outstanding. There was a real attention to detail.

Blonde lady in the gift shop not friendly when checking in and out. She was talking to another male employee about other employees. Discuss business about training modules. Not friendly at all. Did not feel welcomed at all. In fact felt we we interrupting her day and she did not want to be bother with us. Spend a lot of money to stay her and was not welcomed. I wanted to purchase several items in the gift shop and passed.
We had the ocean view room on the second floor. It was newly renovated, with a beautiful private bathroom and beautiful wood work throughout. We were a bit spoiled when we were there, since there were no other guests on our floor during our stay. The kitchen and living room were spacious and well equipped, and Josh was always there to help us if we needed it. We would definitely stay here in the future
