"Pleasant hotel/pub set in the Ashdown Forest. Room and bed were very comfortable although the shower control was extremely stiff to operate and would be impossible for someone with rheumatism/arthritis. Bus stops right outside so ideal for hikers/walkers"

"Very clean well equipped room on ground floor. Perfect for a dog friendly room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing full English breakfast. Only downside was a bit noisy in the evening, loud music and generatir noise. Ear plugs are thoughtfully provided."

"I made allowance for the fact that the property was family owned , not a chain. The father had retired through ill health and the son was taking over. The refurbishment was a work in progress. The price was good value. The son was friendly and helpful. The building had character. I slept well on a comfortable clean bed with good quality clean linen . I will return."

"My wife and I have stayed at The Mount Edgecumbe several times, and it never disappoints. The hotel is old but very well-maintained and stylish. Our room was second to none, and then we came to breakfast in the conservatory. Absolutely lovely. Well worth the money, and the staff are really a step above the norm. Well done to all. "

"Carol and Ceri looked after us very well, beginning with their greeting us at the front door on our arrival. The bed was comfortable and all room facilities excellent (lovely soft towels), except that the bedside lights are not bright enough for old eyes to read by. Breakfasts, prepared by Ceri, were top class; we really looked forward to coming downstairs each morning at 8.30. It was good to be made to feel part of the family, especially as we were able to chat to other guests at the breakfast...

"Convenient location for Gatwick and long-term parking options. 16th century building with bedrooms in character separate block. Upstairs bedrooms only accessible by steps but large size with King bed, chair and desk. Large bathroom and good shower. Very good breakfast with locally sourced ingredients and large portions. We were a late check in and manager brought us bottles from the bar to our room. Would stay again for sure."
