"We chose the Greatt Hotel for its location - 1 block from the Shilin Night Market (one of the best in Asia) and close to the Shilin train station - straight shot to CKS Memorial and convenient 15-minute bus to National Palace Museum. It is a bit spartan, but the rooms are clean and the bathroom was great. Reception was very nice and useful but did not speak English - the use of Google Translate solved all problems. I definitely recommend this hotel."

Given the choice, we would have preferred a simpler breakfast option of cereal and orange juice. A short train or taxi ride would take you to the Taipei City Mall. It is huge, All underground and complete with a high end department store spread over 2 floors. The food hall is incredible with excellent choices and very reasonable...

"I enjoy staying at this hotel so much so that I keep going back when in Taipei. I’m not even exactly sure why that is the case. I just find the atmosphere very calm and comfortable, and the room is super quiet. The staff are nice, and the location is quite good although you do have to walk a bit from the metro. "Fairly close to the nearest MRT station (about 5-7 minutes walk), and lots of amenities like Family Mart, 7-Eleven, and also massage places nearby. There's also a cute market just behind the hotel (maybe a 3-4 minute walk), which we discovered when walking around, and they have many cute cafes and good food and a park there. Easy to reach from the airport, and plenty of things to do in the area. Hotel breakfast was also pretty good, although options are a bit lacking if you are vegetarian and...
