Ayutthaya is well-known for its temples and ruins while attractions include Wat Phra Mahathat and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. This historical city has something for everyone including sights like Ayutthaya Historical Park and Chai Watthanaram Temple within a small-town setting.
If you find yourself in Ayutthaya you probably came for the history but don't sleep on the local cuisine. I would recommend trying the boat noodles and definitely try the roti sai mai which are my favourite thai dessert - really, the best thing ever.

Excellent
The UNESCO World Heritage Site makes Ayutthaya an amazing visit, but the town has its own charm too, particularly with a friendly, varied night market.

Stay one night to have the opportunities to see the great temples at night time. Worth it.

Lots of temples. I wish they had more signage with information about them on site. The Ayutthaya night market is great.

Hard to find food in the mornings before 8 or 9. Train gets in at 5:30 AM and very few places are open for coffee or food

Not as touristy as you'd think. Most tourists are there on a day trip from Bangkok
"The river view in my room was fantastic. Love the reading corner within the room, I could just sit there for hours watching the boats sail past. Service staff were very friendly. Although the hotel doesn't have concierge service, the lobby staff helped to arrange for a guide and driver for me. However, they told me there's turn down service, but it only happened for one night (I stayed for three). While it is a minor issue for me, such thing shouldn't happen for the price they are charging. "
"A beautifully located accommodation in lovely wooden traditional rooms surrounded by lovely gardens and on a river. It is a long distance (6kms) from the temples and attractions therefore you will need transport arrangements. Likewise there is no restaurant on site so you will need to travel to town to eat (there is very limited options to have on site). The mattress is next level hard and the room is simple but clean. A great option if you want to be out of town and enjoy a lovely environment. "
"This place is in a great location, near the train station and motorboat port, with easy access to local services like tuktuks. It's also very helpful for discovering travel destinations. The common area is really nice and located close to the Pasak River. The room is very clean, and the entire place has a charming feel, built with traditional Thai-style wood. I also love their cat."
"Our room was at 17th floor and the view was excellent from there. There were no buildings higher than the hotel, so we could see the whole city and horizon. We also loved the big sofa by the window. It was really comfy."
