The rec center is wonderful and highly recommended. I'd recommend hiring a car and doing the drive from Christchurch down as there's lots of lovely stops and sites to see along the way

It's very close to downtown Greymouth! We were late for dinner so we bought food from the grocery store just before it closed at 9pm. The Pancake rock definitely worth the driving!
"I was picked up from the train station, as it was raining, great service.
Very helpful and offered to phone arround for tour options and also suggested places to go.
It was a short walk to the supermarket and city centre, lots of parking and very quiet."
