Sihanoukville is best known for Serendipity Beach - a large sprawl of sand known for partying backpackers. It's loud, obnoxious, and full of children with sharp sales skills (so depressing). Skip it and head to one of the outlier beaches, like Victory, which is much calmer with great food stalls lining it. If you want to get away from the seediness of Serendipity beach in Sihanoukville, Otres beach is the way to go. We had a big group there and for most of the trip had the beach to ourselves. Note: don't walk alone at night between Otres 1 and 2, I learned this the hard way and got mugged. #golden hour

"This hotel is nice. The issue is the surrounding area is not great. You have to cross 2 roads to get to Otres beach which was busy when we were there. We enjoyed the beaches on the islands much better. There were a few restaurants nearby, the white restaurant is good but overall limited choices. "
