Top neighborhoods in Granada

Albaicín
Centered around a hill, this World Heritage Site boasts a medieval street plan and historic monuments from the Nasrid and Renaissance periods. Explore sights like Dar al-Horra and Casa de Zafra, or visit the bustling Panaderos Street.

Realejo-San Matias
Realejo-San Matias serves up medieval magic in every cobblestone alley. This former Jewish quarter of Granada boasts well-preserved architecture, secret garden-filled homes, and the fascinating Casa de los Tiros museum. Wander through Campo del Príncipe plaza where locals sip wine on sunny terraces. History buffs can explore Moorish walls and the stunning Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo with its peaceful courtyards. Cozy tapas bars tucked into historic buildings offer authentic Andalusian dishes at reasonable prices. Most attractions in Granada are just a 15-20 minute walk away, though the steep streets are best navigated on foot. Boutique hotels in converted historic buildings provide charming accommodation options with plenty of local character.

Centro - Sagrario
Centro-Sagrario's cobblestone streets weave through Granada's historic heart, where the magnificent Cathedral and Royal Chapel stand as testaments to Spain's golden age. Explore the Moorish-influenced architecture, duck into the Alcaicería's narrow bazaar streets, or people-watch at Plaza Bib-Rambla with its ornate fountains. The well-preserved Corral del Carbón offers a glimpse into 14th-century Islamic design that history buffs will love. The neighborhood buzzes with traditional tapas bars where drinks come with free small plates of local specialties. Boutique hotels in converted palaces and convents provide authentic Andalusian charm. Most attractions are within easy walking distance on pedestrianized streets, though cobblestones call for comfortable shoes.

Sacromonte
Perched on a hillside above Granada, Sacromonte captivates with its unique cave dwellings carved into the rocky terrain. This historic Roma enclave vibrates with the soul-stirring sounds of authentic flamenco performances held in intimate cave venues. Visitors can explore the fascinating Sacromonte Abbey or learn about traditional gypsy culture at the Cuevas del Sacromonte Museum while enjoying spectacular views of the Alhambra. Winding cobblestone paths lead to family-run tapas bars serving local specialties in this walkable neighborhood. The limited bus service means comfortable shoes are essential for navigating the steep terrain. Cave hotels offer unique accommodations with modern amenities and traditional charm for travelers seeking an authentic cultural experience.

Granada City Center
Granada's historic center offers a dazzling time-travel experience through centuries of Andalusian history. The stunning Alhambra palace complex dominates the hillside with intricate Islamic tilework, while the Renaissance Cathedral anchors the city below. Wander the medieval Albaicín quarter's cobblestone streets lined with whitewashed houses and hidden courtyards that serve up jaw-dropping views of the Sierra Nevada. Getting around this pedestrian paradise is a breeze with most attractions within walking distance. Treat yourself to legendary free tapas with every drink order in Plaza Bib-Rambla or Calle Navas. Stay in charming boutique hotels housed in converted historic buildings, many featuring rooftop terraces with perfect Alhambra views.

Barceló Carmen Granada Hotel
"I had a lovely room with a stunning view. The bathroom was gorgeous with a double shower and free standing tub. The only slight negative I have to say is that the pool area is very small with only 10 sunbeds and a couple of sling chairs. There are lots of tables and chairs but no table service for snacks or drinks which was odd. Hotel is situated in the shopping area with lots of dining options within walking distance. The Alhambra is a short taxi ride away. I would definitely stay here again!"
Hotel Alhambra Palace
"Beautiful hotel, pristinely maintained even while under renovation. The views of the city were breathtaking from the rooms and the terrace and it’s a very easy walk to the Alhambra. The breakfast is wonderful but should be included in all room pricing. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend."
Hotel Anacapri
"Very good location. Really nice and helpful lady at the reception. Room was clean, just nothing to complain about 😀"
Hotel Porcel Alixares
"Property was very nice. Cafeteria buffet for breakfast was good. Coffee was from instant machines and was terrible. Also disappointed that no bottled water was provided in the room. when I asked, the front desk told me the tap water in the room was fine. It was not, it was chlorinated. Tasted terrible. And getting ice delivered to the room was a €5 charge. Once you get past that, the overall experience is good."
Áurea Catedral by Eurostars Hotel Company
"The location of the hotel can’t be beat, literally across from the Cathedral and close to restaurants (e.x. Le Telefonica) and shopping. Location also made getting around convenient. It was also a short walk to the bus stop to the Alhambra (Isabela Católica) and Plaza Nueva if one chooses to go to Albaicin and Sacromonte. (1.60 euro). One can catch a taxi to the train station at the Plaza Nueva. The hotel is made up of several buildings with a courtyard in the middle. Opted to add breakfast option. Several options. Try the almond cake (tarta de Santiago)."
Sercotel Palacio De Los Gamboa
"Staff was helpful, hotel was well maintained, convenient"
Sercotel HMO Martina
"Good value hotel."
Palacio de Santa Inés hotel
"Clean air conditioned room, picturistiic lobby and room. The break fast was good and the staff very friendly and helpful."
Hotel Granada Center
"Absolutely recommend this hotel not far from the train station"
