I had just stayed the night in Bayonne in November, then convinced another friend she must see this city, so I returned in March. The river, it's people and the varied shops are all delightful. And don't miss entering the cathedral if it's open!

Loved the town, truly historic, nearly all the shops are independent and lots of choice for eating out and drinking

Bayonne is a lovely place to stay for a short break. The people there are so friendly and helpful. Easily walkable but also has fantastic transport service. (Bus £1 from the airport) Lots of great restaurants and good variety of different shops.
"Lovely bedrooms with lots of space. Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. The restaurant was closed during our stay (because of the Bayonne festival), but the hotel was helpful in warning us in advance and recommending local restaurants that were open. Very central hotel, but quiet and peaceful, backing onto a pretty courtyard."
"Very cute boutique hotel with nice breakfast and spacious, clean boho room by the pool. It was walking distance from town but also had free parking as rental car was needed to visit surrounding area by car. I visited in summer when it should be hot but nice air conditioning in the room and breeze that kept terrace cool for breakfast. Staff was very sweet. I would definitely return."
