"Why have a restaurant on the top floor and it be inside, and not open air, ir might as well be downstair, the restaurant staff a little off when asked dothe do beer, which they don't, there is no share by the tiny pool area which is very noisy due to building work, it took 20 minutes to check in and they were not busy, no complimentary drink while waited unlike the other 5 hotels we stayed in while in Sri Lanka. Not really 5 star. The room had a balcony but no chairs, disapointed buy this hotel."

"Mixed experience. The room was a good size, the pool area was pleasant and never felt overcrowded, and the gym was modern and well equipped. Breakfast also offered a wide choice, and staff throughout the hotel were generally polite and welcoming. What let it down was the overall standard of service. Check-in felt unpolished and slightly disjointed — we weren’t given basic practical information such as breakfast times, where breakfast was served, or the opening hours for the pool and gym. The breakfast room was very busy and we had to find a table ourselves, which felt out of step with what you would expect from a hotel at this level. The bedroom itself had a noticeable stale smell that was difficult to shift given the windows cannot be opened. We also experienced intermittent issues with the Wi-Fi, which was frustrating. So overall, disappointing, particularly compared to other Shangri-la hotels. What I would say was that we provided this feeeback directly to the hotel and the GM personally acknowledged the issues which was appreciated from a customer service perspective. "

"The first thing I noticed was the courteous and ready to help staff, Taj has large tree covered property with both ocean and city views. I used the buffets styled restaurant offering international food and with more Indian themed food choices. (not surpised there since Taj is an Indian hotel company and at my visit, majority of guest were Indians. "

"The hotel is a masterclass in shabby chic - old world charm that’s perhaps a little frayed at the edges but wonderful staff and great service make up for all of that. Oceanside pool with a great poolside bar and restaurant, breakfast on the veranda - you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Wonderful stay"

"The hotel and rooms are great. The infinity pool overlooking the Indian ocean is a sight to behold. We had dinner and breakfast buffets at the Quizine and the food was very flavourful and lots of variety."

Marino Mall attached cheap food, ice creams, souvenirs ,entertainment virtual reality games centre & 9D cinema.. Staff ...fabulous! This is a great hotel offers so much to everyone ! Plus a gift of teas from their plantation on check out ."
