Medina of Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen's ancient medina captivates with its iconic blue-washed buildings and winding, pedestrian-only streets. Plaza Uta el-Hammam buzzes with local energy, where the red-walled kasbah and octagonal minaret create perfect photo moments. Traditional artisans work their magic in hidden workshops, crafting colorful textiles while mountain views frame every cobblestone alley. Traditional tagine restaurants and rooftop cafés offer authentic Moroccan flavors with stunning Rif Mountain panoramas. Accommodations range from charming riads to guesthouses with carved woodwork and local breakfast service. Since vehicles can't enter the medina, wear comfortable shoes and prepare to explore the blue-painted magic on foot.
Souika
Wander through Souika's dreamy blue alleyways where every corner feels like stepping into a magical storybook. The historic Kasbah fortress offers panoramic mountain views while the bustling Plaza Uta el-Hammam square pulses with local life around its octagonal fountain. You'll find artisans crafting colorful textiles and leather goods in tiny workshops tucked between blue-washed buildings. Traditional Moroccan restaurants serve up fragrant tagines on rooftop terraces with stunning Rif Mountain backdrops. Cozy riads and guesthouses with interior courtyards make for authentic stays within the car-free medina. Getting around means exploring on foot through the stepped pathways that wind uphill through this enchanting neighborhood.
El Kharrazine
El Kharrazine's blue-washed walls create a dreamlike maze where Chefchaouen's authentic Moroccan culture comes alive. Wander through cobblestone alleys past centuries-old riads with intricate wooden doors and small neighborhood mosques. Plaza Uta el-Hammam and Bab el Ain showcase the area's rich heritage. The sound of artisans working traditional crafts fills this pedestrian-only zone where every corner feels like a step back in time. Traditional eateries serve tagines and mint tea in intimate settings that won't break your budget. Stay in converted riads with rooftop terraces and central courtyards for a truly local experience. This car-free neighborhood requires exploration on foot, with the nearest vehicle access at the medina gates just a short walk away.

Ain Haouzi
Park Sidi Abdelhamid and winding blue-washed alleys welcome you to Ain Haouzi, Chefchaouen's peaceful residential haven. This neighborhood gives travelers a genuine peek into everyday Moroccan life away from tourist crowds. The calls to prayer echo through narrow cobblestone streets while the scent of tagines and mint tea fills the air. Mountain views frame traditional whitewashed buildings with their distinctive blue accents. Family-run cafés serve home-style Moroccan cuisine at prices kinder than the main medina. Small guesthouses and riads offer intimate accommodations with personal host interactions. Getting around means navigating steep paths on foot, so pack sturdy shoes for exploring this authentic corner of Chefchaouen.
El Hafa
El Hafa's cascading blue-painted buildings create a living museum where Moroccan culture thrives on every cobblestone path. The neighborhood's narrow staircases lead to hidden courtyards with intricate tilework and carved cedar doors that tell stories of Andalusian heritage. Visit the Grande Mosquée, wander through Plaza Uta el-Hammam, or find serenity at Ras El Ma Waterfall. Traditional tagines and mint tea await on rooftop terraces with mountain views. Family-run riads and guesthouses offer authentic stays with blue-tiled courtyards. The medina is accessible only by foot, so wear comfortable shoes for exploring this peaceful hillside haven.

Iguana Azul
"A very nice, beautifully decorated, comfortable B&B in the heart of Chefchaouen. Helpful polite personnel, delicious breakfast and complimentary tea at night on roof terrace with awesome views. Location is very convenient close to great shopping and dining (CHEF-CHAOUEN RESTAURANT is the best!). Inexpensive parking is available near Parador Hotel or down the street (it is not possible to drive to Iguana Azul due to its location in the Medina). The only issue we had was the refrigerator. It was not cooling for some reason although it was on. We highly recommend this hotel for couples or solo travelers visiting beautiful Chefchaouen. It is a good value and a great place to stay in the Blue City."
