Pool and terrace was closed the whole time and other reviews also state this, wonder if the pool terrace is ever actually open(?), there is no in room coffee or mini fridge which is strange. Lobby coffee is only there a few hours each morning.. the happy hour at the bar restaurant was decent but only 1 hour. They hit you with a lot of fees if you want breakfast, bag hold, extend hours or anything really. The room was fine

A decent hotel trying to be cool
We booked Yotel because it was the most inexpensive hotel (in an expensive part of town) within walking distance to DC Union station. There was one person serving the long line at the front desk. We didn't want to wait so we used one of the three self check in kiosks to check in and receive our key. Our receipt could be emailed, text or printed. I opted to print but the printer didn't work and it ended the transaction without telling me what my room number was. I had to go to the desk anyway.
The theme of the yotel is modern with minimalist furnishings. This just seemed to be a way to save on costs because it looked cheap.
Each floor had a self serve coffee machine and water dispenser by the elevators which was nice.
The room's AC was either cold at 67 or hot and humid at 68 and above. What compounded the humid issue is the bathroom has no vent. A hot shower (minimal towels provided) fills the bathroom and room with condensation.
The color LED lighting was controlled by two remote units that were fairly straight forward to figure out. It did take a while to figure out how to turn on the light fixture by the front door using only one of these remotes because there are no light switches.
The room is pretty narrow so they couldnt fit much furnature. The one table was small and there wasn't enough room to watch the huge TV from anything other than the futon like bed.
Not a bad stay but I've had better for the price. Yotel is trying hard to be hip but its falling a bit short.

Stay at a Hilton instead of Yotel!!
70 dollar fee for pool but pool was closed and 55 dollars for early check in, 1 hour early. Bathroom door swings in and you must crunch up in corner to close bathroom door so not friendly to bigger people.
Self check in kiosk where you must make your own keys.
Front desk is a joke and they just shout and advise you how to check yourself in.
All in all it was terrible so stay at a Hilton. They let you check in early without fees if your a rewards member.
