Positive Vibes!

I found the staff to be excellent and rooms are clean. Great location. I wish they would offer the shuttle to the amphitheater for shows. I feel they s would be a great draw for me to stay more regularly.

Clean and comfy

So glad we found this place! After a not great experience with an Airbnb, we were able to book into this motel. Immaculate with outstanding service. In a great location far enough away from downtown but close enough to drive in. They have a shuttle bus that will take you to downtown for a small fee. There is also a hop on hop off type business right across the road. This will be our go to place but we got to Saint Augustine from now on.

Historic St Augustine

Great location for visiting Saint Augustine. Very helpful staff, and the hotel runs a shuttle (the hop on hop off trolley also offers shuttle service to their location). Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was standard, and we had vouchers for free drinks. Lots of parking. There is no elevator to the second floor.

Won't stay here again.

We arrived around 6 and asked for extra pillows. We were told that they didnt have access to the pillows when cleaning crew was gone so we eould get them in the morning. Never got them. Asked again when we got back to the hotel after a day out and still nothing. We had to flag down a cleaning crew member and ask him. He brought them finally. You pay $20 a day for parking but theres no reason for it. I've never seen paid parking at a hotel with adequate onsite parking. Only for a busy downtown hotel or parking garage situation. The water pressure was the worst I've ever seen at a hotel. You spend 30 extra minutes just to try and rinse soap off your body. My camper shower has better pressure. I didn't like the fact there was a smoking pit outside of our room. It should be off to the side of the parking lot away from rooms. Room was clean and hotel is in a good location so it's a shame everything else ruins it.

Convenient location

Southern Oaks was comfortable and clean.Pool was refreshing. Breakfast wasnt that good. The same scrambeld eggs and sausage every morning. One big plus was the free shuttle service that took you to town or the beach which was convenient and saved the trouble of finding parking

On vacation

The room was nice, clean and surprisingly quiet considering most motels have some noise. No door slamming or room noises. The only problem with the room was the toilet. It must be the shortest one made. For someone like me with age and knee problems it it harder to stand up. They weren't considering that issue when buying the cheapest toilets .

Some changes to property may surprise some

Spent a few nights returning from South Carolina, found that the floors were dirty after walking, barefoot and stepping on a towel the towel turned black. Also the shower and tub area had hairs on the wall and on the deck.
After walking barefoot in the floor and onto the shower mat, this is what you get. Totally unacceptable.

Amazing Stay

The staff were amazing. Very polite and having a shuttle to downtown and the beach was an added benefit. The breakfast could use some work but there is a great restaurant called the Village Inn where you can get a great meal. I will be back in the future for sure.

Safe, tidy, well kept property- consistently good

We enjoy this little property in close proximity to old town and the FSDB school. It's neat, tidy, well kept and rarely full. Even though we RV, sometimes it's just nice to have a room to go to without RV hookups, and I have stayed in an RV park in Anastasia and didn't like the set up at all. Their free shuttle to old town made it easy to settle in, pop over for a nice dinner, walk and look-around, back in the shuttle and back in the room by 10. The two disappointments are the breakfast which is fine for most travelers, but not something people with food allergies can handle. They also used to give little drink coupons out for their little store and we always looked forward to that little treat, that seems to have been discontinued. Shuttle rides are $10 per room, which is less than an Uber round trip. The rooms are comfortable and tidy, the staff is nice, and the grounds are well kept. Good area also.
