The style and decor in the lobby is really nice, staff accommodating and friendly. We asked for high floor, which we got - floor 11. What an awesome view! Room is pretty basic but comfortable and well stocked with coffee and tea. The one problem when you are high up is the wind. Wellington is extremely and the wind is loud. Staff friendly and helpful, room clean, well equipped. However, a lot of noise from the street, cars revving, people shouting, sirens etc. also room had adjoining door and every sound could be heard incl snoring.

I'll start by saying that the staff were fantastic, all kind and courteous. The room was fine, just a typical room. However, the pretty basic food, especially breakfast, was fairly over priced. $30 for some eggs, meat, and toast. Then, we attempted to do laundry late in the evening, which required coins. We tried to exchange paper for coins and were told we had to walk to a shop down the road to do that. After doing that, we wash our laundry and flip it to the dryer. The dryer did nothing to dry the clothes, I changed the setting assuming ot was my own mistake. It was still wet after another 45 minute cycle. Now were $6 into just drying the clothes, which somehow came out even more wet after a 3rd attempt! To which the staff could do nothing and we were left with a bag of wet clothes at 230am. So, be prepared with coins and make sure you have extra time if the dryer is malfunctioning.

Tried to check in with our friends at 1:30pm but only 1 of the 3 rooms were ready, which was fine. But when we returned later we were asked to pay a bond. Our friends hadnt & we have stayed at the Bay Plaza many times & never paid a bond on a prepaid room.

Wellington is windy and often wet. Pack rain gear so you can get around to see everything. Good urban public transportation. Walkable too.

The staff at this hotel were amazing! I greatly appreciated their work to get me checked in early after my 18+ hours of travel. The room was perfect and very clean. Definitely small compared to North American standards but was perfect for just me and my things! Super walkable area and lots of restaurant options. Being so close to the museum and grocery store were just what I needed for my half day in Wellington!
