I proudly leave this review to say that this hotel offers incredibly kind service and impeccably clean facilities—so much so that words alone cannot do it justice. I’ve visited Japan many times, but I have never encountered such remarkable kindness and consideration from staff anywhere else in the country. Every single staff member, without exception, made a sincere effort to ensure guests felt as comfortable as possible. Their attitude and culture were so impressive that I found myself wondering what kind of leadership was behind it all. When in Japan..

A lovely place to stay. A caution to those older westerners who have a bad back or trouble with low lying furniture. The traditional Japanese bedrooms (dojo) are quite small 4m2 with an average furniture height of 30cm. The public thermal baths are amazing but be prepared to do it in your birthday suit. That's how they roll in Japan. ;)

The accommodation is very near Kyoto station, just approximately 5 to 10 min walk. Just across the street is 7-11 and nearby with a lot of food choice. The hotel is fairly new, comfortable and fairly decent size space. The Onsen is great and they serve fairly good breakfast. If I ever come back to Kyoto again, this will still be my preferred accommodation.
