At check in, there’s a 300 Baht deposit for the key. I was in dorm 401, which involved climbing 4 flights of steep stairs. Fine for me, but difficult for anyone with limited mobility.
The dorm had 8 bunk beds. Each had one electrical point, private light, a privacy curtain, a towel and a light duvet. The room was cooled by an AC, which worked well and was quiet. The bed mattress was very firm, even by Thai standards.
The shared toilet/bathroom rooms were on the 3rd floor. Imagine a toilet that also had a shower unit, very small. Liquid soap and shampoo were provided. Not problem with hot water or water pressure.
Location wise, the place is reasonably central. BTS Ratchathewi is close by, as are plenty of street food stalls, restaurants and cafes. The hotel is on a busy main road and you can definitely hear the traffic in the morning, less at night. The bed also shakes sometimes from the traffic vibration.
Breakfast was provided. The staff serve a fairly typical range of Thai breakfast and the portions are huge.
Overall, I had a good stay. The staff are friendly and cook a fine breakfast. The price is higher than average for a hostel in Bangkok. The free breakfast, proximity to the BTS and Airport train at Phaya Thai made up for the price.
