The staff are working hard and nice enough but they are working at a much higher standard than the hotel itself. The communal areas are nice enough (although quite a bit of grubby upholstery around and the foam on the chairs feels like you're sat on a brick). There are some nice touches for the kids, like a play area in the main lobby and tokens given to kids on arrival for them to exchange for a variety of things. Also, another nice touch is the kids crockery available at breakfast and kids eat free for the restaurant. The food in the restaurant isn't bad, it's an easy, pretty consistent option.
The bit that lets this place down is the rooms themselves, threadbare carpets, mould in the showers and a sofa bed that will make you question your life choices at 3am as you try and get comfortable for the 1000th time that night.
We were just stopping for a few nights and it was ok for that purpose, if the rooms were better, we may even consider it a good base to explore the area as all the other aspects were decent enough.
I feel for the manager and the staff a bit, who were very helpful and are being let down by a lack of investment in the rooms
