The hotel is more of a motel, with most of the rooms facing the garden and parking. I was here for business and it happened to be during spring break. There were college students arriving late at night and being very loud. I had to call reception to ask them to go to their rooms. Turns out, the front desk closes at 11P and there is no one monitoring the property. Also, the walls are pretty thin, so I could hear my neighbors talking (unclear words, yet noise). And the lower level rooms do not get a lot of sun. The beds are comfortable and breakfast is nice enough for a hotel. I prefer the sister property, Brisas, but they're higher priced most nights.

My sister and I stayed here one night and enjoyed it. The location was close to the beach and we liked having a parking spot included. The staff was also very welcoming. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms do have a smell. We were also able to hear neighbors through the walls and there were some ants in our room. Aside from that, we do not regret our stay there.

Great staff, easy check in, great location. Very easy walk to the beach. We got there early, our room wasn't ready so we walked across the street and borrowed two bikes from the sister hotel. Rode the bikes along the beach until it was time to check in. We had the junior suite and it's pretty much a full apartment. Happy hour is a sweet touch.

Really like this hotel and have stayed there a few times. Friendly and attentive staff. Free parking, WiFi, continental breakfast and use of bicycles. A nice little gem in Santa Barbara that's close to the beach and downtown.

So-so stay @ Lavender. Positives: Price, location and convenience to the highways. That and the staff were friendly. Negatives: Tiny indoor breakfast area with dull and lackluster continental items. Coffee tasted like charred plastic cups.

Don’t believe positive reviews! We regretted staying there. Dated, motel-style architecture and furniture. Located on a busy street, hence sleeping with open windows was not an option. But the worst part, my husband was bitten by bed bugs. Advise to staff: don’t recommend your guests taking West Montecito street walking to downtown!
