The room wasn’t ready when we turned up so had to wait 2 hours. Guests that complained the most seemed to get complimentary drinks. We didn’t. The reception always seemed busy as usually only one person on duty so you had to queue. The room was tired especially the bathroom. But the hotel although old was charming. Staff great. Breakfast good. The estate fabulous. Would go again as we felt very relaxed.

All the staff we interacted with were brilliant. Front desk, bar and restaurant, and the spa. Could not have been friendlier, or more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. But Zara on front desk was exceptional. She made us so welcome, and on discovering details about our reservation were not on their record, organised a card and gifts to make our celebration that much more special. The grounds and spa are great. Our room was excellent.
