We booked through Hotels.com. We had to wait 2 hours and 20 minutes after the check in time for our room to be ready, and then the room we were given was not the room I had reserved, which was a suite with a balcony. The room we were allocated was not a suite and didn't have a balcony. We were told that as we had booked via a 3rd party website, if the room we had reserved wasn't available, they could give us a different room. On scanning hotels.com website I couldn't see this information but had to accept what they were telling me, especially as we just wanted to check in and enjoy our stay.
For the inconvenience of waiting so long to check in for a room that was different, they did offer us complimentary breakfast for the 2 days. However after checking out, they charged me $82 for one of the days we had breakfast (for a family of 4) - I only noticed because I was checking my credit card and then had to ring them to ask them to refund the amount. The guest experience manager gave me his email address to follow up with any issues we had had, but he didnt reply to any of my messages.
To add to our bad experience, though I understand this was not in their control, the day we wanted to use the pool, someone had vomited in it and it was closed until the next day, which was when we were leaving.
Overall I was disappointed and irritated with our Marriott experience, even though the staff themselves were pleasant and helpful. I wish I had saved my money and stayed somewhere else.
