Under Remodel Construction At Time Of Review

At this time the hotel is under remodeling. So my review is giving a bit of grace due to the construction. We stayed at the same hotel a couple weeks ago as well. Upon arrival last time, we had to move rooms due to the new tv not being programmed. A bit of a nuisance, but ok. This time, after checking in, I noticed stains/dirt on the bed. I immediately went downstairs and was given keys to another room. Staff didn’t seem to be bothered and asked “ What is that?” when I showed her a photo of the bed, and simply stated she would give us another room. I replied I had no idea but wasn’t going to sleep in that bed. 2 stays, 2 times I had to move. The new room hadn’t quite been completed with the remodel. We had to move a lamp and the new tv hadn’t been installed yet. The old tv is on a table in front of the whole in the wall where the new tv will be installed. The tv only has 13 local channels, due to no cable service. They only have a local antenna. We also had a broken tv remote. My husband picked up a fresh towel, only to find a hair on it. There were no hangers available to hang clothes. The construction crew takes up almost all the parking spaces in front of the rooms between equipment and their personal vehicles. I was really hoping this would be our go-to hotel as we travel to SD often, but after a second chance, we will not be returning to this property. I left with the feeling that staff doesn’t care and there is no pride in the care of the hotel or guests.

HEALTH HAZZARD SHOULD BE CONDEMNED, RUN AWAY!

This hotel needs to be condemned and the health board called immediately. Under construction, but still renting rooms filled with smoke (it appears there was a fire in the walls?) and showers full of mold. The rooms look like something out of a slasher film. I am not exaggerating. Do not go here for the love of your health. I cancelled, got a refund, and will report to the health board. Hotels.com should not feature this filthy, unsafe, health hazzard of a building.

A very unpleasant experience.

I would not recommend this hotel. The property is under construction, which wasn’t mentioned when I booked. There was no hot water during my stay, and I noticed mold in the bathroom. They advertise breakfast, but there was none available. The pool and spa were also closed, which was really disappointing. On top of that, the entire place had an old, musty smell. Overall, a very unpleasant experience — I wouldn’t stay here again.

Needs educated hospitality staff

We go their for the convenience for our children its close to parka they like and we understand that they are remodeling but the woman at the front desk is rude, and on her phone or eating everytime I go there.Ahw seems to be upset because im interrupting her meal time. And the same with the lady who puts the breakfast out. Other than that we go there because of the location and convenience. But the Manager he is great.

La Quinta was a fine substitute

This is a review for la Quinta inn, Mission Bay Inn was under construction and they sent us to their sister hotel, which was actually really great. Rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable. Free breakfast was provided. Location was good only complaint was the area surrounding the hotel was a little bit loud. The quality for the price is very very good. Would stay there again.

Will be nicer after construction is done

Didn’t find out that they would be under construction until we arrived. Was offered the option of free cancellation due to the construction, but we needed a place to stay and had nowhere else to go. Would have been nice to get a discount OR at least be informed of the construction BEFORE booking. Also no cable tv (just antenna with 8 channels, half of which were like HSN or QVX). The construction noise wasn’t too bad in our room and it was only during the day, but the lack of tv was a real bummer. I’m sure it will be better once construction is done.

Could have been better, could have been worse.

TV didn't work..room was not comfortable and worn down. The entire place was under construction.was too scared to take a shower that. Left earlier than our intended stay and am still waiting for the refund that was agreed to be returned

Not enjoyable but a place to sleep

Tons of construction, besides that the cable didn’t work. I thought maybe someone had removed it and I checked behind the tv and saw there was a digital antenna. The digital antenna did not get any channels so I unplugged it and put on the cable wire. That didn’t work either. I put it back how it was and told the front desk and they said the cable was out due to construction. As someone who does renovations and construction there was nothing impeding the cable. I believe they stopped paying it due to less than half their rooms being available. They didn’t see the need. No continental breakfast was found and no extra amenities such as hot tub, pool, or anything else was available.
