Affordable and Conveniently Located

The room had some mileage. It looked like the bathtub caulk was wearing out. The hot water didn't last very long. The toilet had a tendency to run because the internal tank hardware needs replacing. And the bathroom doorstop was a toe stubbing hazard (they really should've gone for the hinge door stop, given the room layout). That said, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was cozy and comfortable. If you just need a place to sleep while visiting Kalamazoo, it's a good choice.

Bad Choice for NHRA Weekend

Where to start...we happened to book this room on the same weekend as the NHRA auto show weekend. Made parking the first night tight, but with the hundreds of people that overtook the area Friday and Saturday night, actual hotel patrons could not access the hotel parking, and the crowd that had assembled just overran the whole area. We wore socks in our room that turn black on the bottoms after an hour or two due to the dirty carpeting. Bathtub shower VERY slippery, no hand assist bars - be careful! Whole property needs updating. Breakfast: so-so, powdered eggs and sausage or waffles every morning, no oatmeal. Fitness area was poor, treadmills unusable or non functional, carpeting filthy. Young lady at desk was sincerely apologetic, but thst's where the hospitality ended. Will be back to Kalamazoo, but will search for better accomodations.

While the price was nice, everything was old and well used. Everything worked though. I didn't like the roundabouts by the hotel. Had an Arby's and other hotels by it. Close to industrial parks. Functional is the word I'd use to sum up this hotel's description.

It served its purpose which was a cheap place to sleep. A bad storm rolled through and knocked out power to half the town including this property. The doors opened and the water was running, but I think the storm blew out all of the light bulbs that were on during the storm. This was no fault of the property, but I wasn’t offered any refunds or amenities and noone checked up on me.

Terrible stay

Worst trip I’ve had in a long time. The room was okay, bed was comfortable but there were stains on the sheets. During our 4 night stay, hotel staff only came by once to see if we wanted trash emptied or new towel, etc. The second night of our stay there was a crazy storm and the hotel lost power, but the next morning most of the rooms had working lights and electrical outlets, our room did not. We asked to switch to a room that had partial electricity but the hotel staff said they could not switch our room. We had to charge our devices in the rental car. The hotel had no hot water, no continental breakfast, no spa, and lacking quite a few amenities that were advertised on the property details.

We have stayed at this Clarion for several years for the Kalamazoo Living History Show. The rooms are clean, staff was friendly and helpful. We did have another guest try to enter our room at 3:30 am Sunday morning. Not sure if this was just a "wrong room" thing or if they given our room as well. Breakfast was good. We just hope the pool can be revived for future stays!
