The property is a compound. It’s isolated from the next towns and the public transportation to leave the property was not reliable. The prices inside the resort were outrageous!

This property is a resort. I believe there were 3 pools (1 was for children) a poolside bar, an tiki sushi bar. Two private beaches one right by the pools the other you drive a short distance to, definitely worth the drive, there were quite a few monkeys one with a baby on its back. Others trying to steel water out of peoples bags at the picnic tables. So fun!! It’s definitely a 5 star. The rental we were in was like a small condo unit with 2 units per place. All soundproofed. You can get 2 bedrooms, I believe I saw 3 bedroom units. It had it all. Everyone was so friendly. If I come back to Costa Rica this is where I’ll be.

Friendly Service at Punta Leona

The pools and restaurants were great and the white sand and blue water at Playa Blanca were extraordinary. We saw some cool sea life in the tide pools. We enjoyed playing mini golf and ping pong as well. It's a great spot for a family vacation. We were also thrilled to find out the friendly folks at Golf Cart Rentals could fix our flat tire with a nail puncture for only $10!

The entire property is dated, lacks lots of maintenance. The beach restaurant in playa Blanca has terrible service. The guard towards reception is a bully.

Very overwhelming place , staff are very friendly , but they don’t have enough support for transportation and makes it very inconvenient and stressful The all inclusive option is not worth it to pay due to the options are limited and not worth the price I paid for they don’t even provide water or drinks in your room This hotel I will say is a 3 star hotel, workers are very nice , but the quality of the food, transportation, facilities are not what I was expecting for the height price we paid to stay for 5 days

We got there and the toilet was running and proceeded to cover our room with toilet water. They came and fixed the issue but thought just drying toilet water off the floor was clean. We had to insist they disinfect the floor which after lots of arguing they finally barely cleaned it. Absolutely disgusting bc and the staff was completely rude about it. Don’t recommend this resort at all!

We stayed here last year and were looking forward to this trip. The room they gave us was far from the main section, a bit remote. The room was smaller, only 1/2 the showerhead worked. But when I saw a small sign near the toilet saying not to flush toilet paper, I lost it. For what we were paying, it was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE for a resort!! We went to reception and complained, where I was initially told maybe another room would be available the next day (we were only staying two nights). I politely insisted that was unacceptable. After some back and forth, they offered us a room that was reserved for someone who hadn't check in yet. We were moved to the better part of the bungalows, directly across from the breakfast restaurant. MUCH BETTER!! The room was what we were expecting and We could flush the TP!! There were 4 bath towels, no floor towel, and no wash clothes. When we saw someone from housekeeping, it was rectified. The staff was very nice, Playa Leona beach, although crowded, is amazing. Just make sure when you book, you specify you want a room in the 800 area, not 900!!

Roads in gated resort are very poorly maintained. Room wasn't ready at designated check in time. In first room no hot water and water flooded room from missing plumbing connection during shower. Phone in room didn't work to call reception. Maintenance came to fix clean up the watera nd told us that the plumbing was a known problem and room should not have been available for use. Was also told by maintenance that they should have told us that phones didn't work while checking in as this was also a known problem. Evening staff at reception was able to get us into another room but it obviously hadn't been used/cleaned recently as there was dust/dirt on floors and countertops.

I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in this area of Costa Rica (Garabito). From the pictures, I thought the property was going to be small, but I was wrong! The property is huge, and although there are free shuttles around the resort, it is best to rent a golf cart so you can be on your own time. The golf cart rentals are on the property and you can rent a golf cart for under $60 a day. The golf cart was key to making our stay even more fun! The staff was pretty accommodating, sometimes things are unclear, but everyone is friendly and helpful. The food options are good, and with a short drive you can get some great seafood outside the resort. Jaco is a short drive away and worth going out there for a night. The resort is quiet and things shut down a bit early at night, so if you are looking to "turn up" this resort is not the place (I was ok with that). Conveniently, there is also an ice cream shop and a small market on the property as well which is very convenient. I believe all of the rooms have refrigerators as well. Overall, great place to stay whether you are traveling alone, with friends or with family. There is something for everyone! Great pools, great bars and access to great beaches (especially Playa Blanca).

Read carefully before booking.You might not get what you thought to reserve. Both hotel and Expedia were deceiving on the room selection. I booked a room assuming it was what the pictures showed and detailed on Expedia. To my surprise it was not what I booked but an apartment room. Good luck calling them it's impossible to get in contact with them. They do not respond in a timely matter and contact # is a nonfunctioning number so find an alternative way to reach Hotel Punta Leona. Breakfast is not included. There is a overpriced charge per person for breakfast buffet likewise for dinner. There are alternative restaurants and mini market on site. There is mini golf and pool options. Pools stays open late, clean. Limited seating but spacious pool areas. I believe it's overpriced for what you are getting. Bring your own blankets and toiletries. Shower and beach towels provided. No room service or after hour. If you are hungry you need to leave premises and go into town or main road. Not a 5 star hotel/ resort. It's a decent, mediocre place to book. I only booked because it was recommended by an associate/ owner. Also if you don't book with this specific hotel you will not get Beach access which used to be free to the public and it's a nice, relaxing, beautiful beach. Beach is a 20min walk. Never found the transportation they stated to provide. I had numerous issues but tried my best to enjoy since they have a non-refundable policy. All premises are clean.
