Our room at the Great Lakes Inn was old but clean. However it smelled so badly of mildew that I couldn’t sleep. Front desk was very helpful and we moved over to the Thunderbird hotel next door (same owners). It is the same layout but they had replaced the flooring. Still an old hotel but it was cheaply priced and the sheets were clean.

You definitely get what you pay for. The out door pool wasnt working and neither was the hot tub. The indoor pool was clean but looked a bit suspicious. We had to walk to the inn next door to check in. The room smelled musty and was super humid. There wasnt a fitted sheet on our bed just a straight sheet. We did uave a jetted tub in the bathroom that worked which was a surprise for us. Will definitely not be returning

Toilet was broken so we had to keep the tank lid off and fish for the chain and the floor was a little grimy. Worked for the purpose, place to shower and sleep while we were in town. Price wasnt bad.

Fantastic location, just 2 blocks off the crowded intense bank of hotels in a quiet secluded area and easy walking distance or drive to the action (if you choose that). There was no Wi-Fi although the registration desk offered us a link. We did enjoy the monthly Mackinaw City Saturday night fireworks in the sky outside our rooms on lawn chairs. Room was clean although the bedspreads and upholstered chairs might need an update soon. Beds and pillows were quite comfortable. We noticed that pets are welcome although a carpeted room always concerns me, but our room had no unpleasant scent. I would recommend this hotel as a well-priced option in a great location.

Traveled with friends, they had a roach in their room. We had stains on our sheets. Very old and not kept up. Staff was friendly and helpful and moved us to a different property since they couldn’t refund our money. Price was good but wouldn’t ever try to stay here again. The Thunderbird Inn which is next door and run by the same people was much better and that’s where they moved us to.

The bed was short sheeted, there were dead bugs along the baseboard, the room smelled musty, the furniture was peeling, the picture frames were rusted as was the light fixture, the bags sagged and were beyond worn out. There was no WiFi but you could use the Nextdoor hotel’s WiFi and there was no office staff. You have to check in and check out at the hotel next door. There were only 2 working outlets and one had a surge protector overloaded with all the TV, frig and microwave plugs. Scary!

The rooms are very dated but were clean enough. There was no breakfast as advertised. Both of our pools were empty but we were told we could use the one next door. If you want a warm shower you better get up early, otherwise you get a cold shower. We did have free access to the water parks in the area, which was nice. The price and location were great.

This is just an old motel with the VERY LOW old style toilets and no grab bars. The motel is joined to the one next to it and it is there where you have to check in. It seems to be the type of motel that has semi permanent tenants that are on the first floor, so you will most likely have to climb stairs. I’m 77 and they still put me up there. No elevator, so taking up the luggage was difficult. It was as clean as a very old motel can be, but you hate to walk around on the carpet without shoes. Only redeeming value for us was that it is close to downtown. There are closer ones for just a little more. One more thing, we reserved a room weeks in advance and were still put on the second floor. Should have been treated better.
