Super service!

Very, very poor

We stayed I room 8. I appreciate that this is an old building, however, the decor is very tired, the bed was awful and really uncomfortable, the carpets throughout the building are worn with bald patches and the filth behind the bed was disgusting. Also, there was no light bulb in the bedside lamp. Towels and bath mats were thread bare. Overall a very unsatisfactory experience.

Hotel and staff friendly, breakfast was very nice. A few minor items need addressing in the general areas and the rooms, closer attention to details in maintenance.

Great value for money

Pleasantly surprised upon arrival after reading some awful reviews! Beautiful little place , our room was bright and fresh, comfy bed with fresh clean linen, nicely decorated and a great view of the castle, bathroom was a bit tired . Breakfast was fab, very attentive and friendly staff, we really enjoyed our stay

Very comfortable bed/ thank you for the upgrade. I had to leave before breakfast service started which is a shame as I know from previous visits that the breakfast is superb.

6/10 Good

The room was nice, but the staff weren’t very friendly. The location to the town centre and places to visit is great. I only had breakfast on my last day there, and while the variety was good, my poached eggs tasted a little weird. I would stay again though.

Lovely building and ensuite room, unfortunately the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. It has not put us off and we would stay/recommend Woodfield House.

Perfect for Chepstow Castle Events

I visited Chepstow for a concert at the Castle and this hotel was the nearest hotel to the venue. It's old, homely and comfortable The contact free check in was a little worry with no text coming through in the morning, but this was sorted easily enough by phone call. The hotel is being renovated at the moment and TBH the rooms need a little love from the carpets to the bathroom. Everything is comfortable though and the location is perfect.

I wanted to enjoy an English inn experience and got it with Woodfield House that had excellent service from the two ladies who saw to breakfast and the rooms. The Woodfield also has a wonderful and tranquil garden that has to be enjoyed after breakfast or to end your day! I was there for 12 days to attend my daughter's wedding, so it wasn't a holiday per se for me, but if I return to Chepstow for a future visit, I will book my stay at Woodfield.

A cosy hotel

A lovely historic inn. Very cosy and charming. A few things to note: - the building is very old which means the floor boards creek, you hear your neighbours and people outside - the sink in our superior room was tiny and with a glass shelf above it made it a bit of a health hazard when trying to wash your face - no wardrobe or chest of draws in the room, just an open metal rack with a few hangers and one shelf - shower pressure is excellent, but you need to keep it low otherwise you will have water on the floor - shower screen only catches some of it

Needs a bit more tender loving care

This property is accommodation only and you deal with no people. You are given a code etc. I would assume as the builders are still about that this is a work in progress if that is the case then the poor condition of the rooms can be forgiven. Apart from that it was in the perfect location for us.

Room 4 could benefit from bathroom maintenance. Bath panel falling off and only one out of the 3 ceiling lights working. Other than that a lovely stay as always.
James, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Needs work

The good parts: I had an acceptable sleep and the location was good for where we wanted to visit in Chepstow and further abroad. Chepstow itself is a pleasant little place. Unfortunately, room 8 didn't have curtains or blinds so for light sleepers it wouldn't be the best. I wasn't happy with the bathroom as the toilet brush was clogged and the shower didn't work. When I called the staff in the morning I was told a plumber would be there in 20 mins. Well over an hour later we still had nothing, so we left.
