Staff didn’t talk much but were pleasant enough, room was in awful condition. Unsure if the curtains were dirty or mouldy, bedding was ripped, shower had parts missing so could not move shower head.

6/10 Good

Room was in ok condition, TV was wonky, a fee screws sticking out the wall & a picture hung up wonky but didnt really bother us to be honest. In the bathroom the toilet seat didnt fit the toilet properly & was very loose. The hotel it's whilst it has been recently been redocrated, its still quite dated & looks tires.

Review Connaught Hotel

A bit too noisy from some adjacent rooms for my liking and was woken a few occasion during the night with people shouting but the cost of the stay was cheap so maybe expected and wifi was good.

2/10 Poor

This hotel is truly awful. The most recent reviews confirm the negative experiences. It’s in a terrible state, dirty and noisy. The fire alarm went off in the evening and the curtains were so filthy I couldn’t even touch them. The bathroom had missing tiles and the floor grout was black instead of the expected colour. The lift is out of order and appeared to have been so for a very long time so if you struggle with stairs, you must avoid this place. If you’re looking for a clean hotel and a good night’s sleep, this isn’t the place for you.

2/10 Poor

it used to be a best western but clearly isn’t any more, been bought out and it’s turned into an awful place. the room stank, the carpets didn’t even reach the edge of the room and was lifting at the sides, the doors creaked, the floors creaked, the walls creaked, the bed creaked worst of all and for someone with sleeping problems i’d be awake all night. plug sockets didn’t work, the bathroom was a state and didn’t fancy showering in dirt and grime. people banging on the doors, you can hear every room in your corridor as if people were talking next to you, screaming and drunks from the estate behind and the car park was no where near secure as our car was being eyed up as we parked. stayed for all of 20 minutes before booking elsewhere. front desk said our reasons for leaving ‘wasn’t good enough’ and excuses. cheap doesn’t mean cheerful, AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Run to the ground. Look elsewhere

Shame. Used to be a class hotel. Now is a totally run down garbage hotel. Would not recommend staying here at all. Unless you recently arrived by boat. Stay away. Dont let the price fool you.

I really think that Expedia should visit this hotel and then take it off their web site.

The hotel was clearly under renovation. The place was very shabby and smelt of fresh (an ugly green) paint. There was no restaurant facilities available, so no breakfast. The lift was out of order. Definitely not to be recommended.

Very comfortable bed. However the property is part way through a refurbishment which is impacting on the cleanliness of the public areas and rooms.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

Avoid at all cost. Room was dirty. Toilet water was constantly running which could not be repaired when reported. We left the room and hotel within 15mins of checking in. They promised a refund as they couldn't offer another room but stated that would need to go through Hotels.com. They did not refund and Im still chansing this up with Hotels.com

Basic but in the middle of updates that will help.

A basic hotel for a basic price. In the middle of some updating by the looks of it and definitely needs it in the corridors. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very tired, and appears to be full of permanent residents. There was no food available, people running up and down the hallway after 12.00pm shouting Awful place

Terrible hotel. Falling apart. Staff unwilling to assist with multiple broken items. No facility maintenance exists. Incredibly dirty.

Prison

Hotel was dirty, the room wasn’t clean for the 4 days I was there, tv didn’t work properly, the windows didn’t lock or close and I was in a ground floor room, I had no hot water the last 2 days I was there. Hotel manager didn’t care one bit. If you haven’t just crossed the channel in a dingy, then do not stay in this “hotel”
Adam, 4-night trip

2/10 Poor

Awful

Don’t have anything positive to say about the hotel overall to be honest. 3 of us stayed in 3 separate rooms and all had issues. I had a room where the heating wouldn’t switch off, mattress was uncomfortable and felt like it needed flipping, also my shower was held together with electrical tape. The second of us had no heating whatsoever and ended up sleeping in his coat on what seemed to be an old uncomfortable mattress. The third of us had to move rooms due to an overpowering smell of mould. Hotel very dated and worn down, no lift at all. Screaming kids down every hallway. Won’t ever be coming back
Clark, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Terrible. Shut it down.

This was the worst hotel I have stayed in in years. The name suggests something far better than reality. The hotel is very tired. The restaurant does not operate. The clientele seem to be mainly local workers (some nice people but a bit scary). The bath was flimsy and had a burn mark in it. The room was otherwise clean. The fire alarm went off early morning. There was a lot of commotion from a couple of doors down in the night. I then received a fine from a third party company because I had parked in the car park overnight. I saw no signs and no mention was made about parking when I checked in. The website said that parking was free. Never again will I consider staying at that hotel. It should be shut down.

Avoid this hotel

I am absolutely shocked at the service and state of this hotel. It’s unbelievable that this place is taking bookings the condition of this hotel is unacceptable. The toilet seat was broken, the heating in my room wasn’t working. I stayed for 2 nights and spoke to staff regarding this I was just told that the boiler will be reset. On arrival I was told that the floor my room is on there is no signal, my TV wasn’t working. The room was absolutely freezing cold I was shivery most of the time. The cleanliness was appalling I am allergic to dust and as you can see on the pictures I attached the room was very dirty and dusty. First and last time I stay here! Although it was very cheap unfortunately it still wasn’t worth it. The lift was very smelly.

Avoid if you can

Very very basic, lift not working, no water pressure. Bed was fairly comfortable. If you want cheap and not so cheerful then go for it. If not spend a little more and stay somewhere else
