This was something like my 6th stay at Kings Croft. The best hotel in the region. I have stayed at most of them within 20 miles. The food is better, the service is better and it is a more relaxing place than the others in the locale.

Small standard room

The room we booked was a standard room, it was incredibly small for the price we paid. There was barely enough room to pass each other around the bed. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The drinks at the bar are very expensive.

Fantastic stay

We stayed for one night, the room was executive double (one of the bungalows) we travelled with my wife's Guide Dog. The room was absolutely fantastic plenty of space especially when we had a large dog bed with us. The staff were fantastic and nothing too much trouble for them. The breakfast was exceptional and served piping hot again the staff very helpful assisting my wife whenever they could. Overall a brilliant place to stay and will definitely be staying there again, but next time we will eat in the restaurant probably for a special occasion.

Nice hotel for a business trip

The room and bathroom was large and spacious. The pub was nice and cozy and the dinner menu was good. Breakfast is a little basic with a very simple buffet. Hot breakfasts are a choice of a version of Full English or a sandwich. It was not clear how flexible the breakfast menu is. A menu on each table would be far handier.

Enjoyable stay.

The hotel is in attractive grounds and the bar food and breakfast were both excellent. Friendly staff. About 20 minutes walk into Pontefract. Plenty of buses too. We stayed on a Friday night and there was a wedding and a dinner dance at the hotel. Our bedroom was directly above the room used for the dinner dance. This made it a bit noisy, which could be a problem for some guests or if they had a noisier entertainer.

OK hotel just outside town centre

Usually enjoy my stays here but standards dropped on this occasion. The bedroom floor had dog hairs all over it and a mug was dirty. There was a wedding on which was great but this means a buffet breakfast - the quality dropped particularly the fried eggs - overcooked and greasy. The staff didn't seem happy, no smiles or good mornings.

This is a lovely hotel, great staff, amazing grounds. Breakfast was good. But I could only give it a good because of the noise. It is an excellent wedding venue. But our room was very close to the room and we could hear every word from the DJ right up to midnight. There is no reception at night and so some doors are alarmed. We were woken by alarms at 4:00am. Door slamming and corridor conversations are not softened in anyway. I'd give it a go during the week, but not on a party night.

Disappointed in this visit. Room was smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in. (Travel frequently, at least every second month have to stay in hotels across country) shower was hot but shower rose cracked so hard to wash hair. Food onsite pleasant but expensive. Altercation on checkout with receptionist insisting that we had not paid for dinner and very embarrassing . Took a long time for her to verify my payment on their system- completely unnecessary - made us late for timeline of our journey( travelled for this purpose) - I had explained that we were in a hurry. No apology for their error.

When booking on line just over night stay , ROOM 9. Has no window. Terrible nights sleep. Plus the man on reception when booking in at 5.30. Was VERY UN HELPFUL, . My husband and I have osteoarthritis in the knees. I said we couldn’t do the stairs because of this. The man said he couldn’t do anything for us. We have stayed there 3 times and always have a chalet ground floor, Your man whom needs re training even though been with you for 14 years. I would not give him a reception job ever. Another basic point eating in the restaurant, requested again Worcestershire sauce for steak dinner 3 rd time no sorry we don’t use that. The young ladies said they never heard off it. Pls train waitress I had to get all this off my chest as it was manifesting too long. We stay at the Kings Croft for when we travel up from Suffolk to visit family. Stay in Pontefract

Nice stay on the outskirts of Pontefract. Lovely location and plenty in the bungalow apartment. Breakfast and host were lovely, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good.
